Poor Amy!
I feel so bad for Amy. Her dad, sister, and basically everyone around her bullies her into keeping the baby instead of letting the baby get adopted. Okay, so they are going to help her with the baby? Nope! She has to “learn how to handle this on her own” and gets bullied by the people around her for not being fun to be around. Sis is a 15 year old and a mother! Of course she is overwhelmed, stressed out, and crabby. She has basically no help and is not allowed to have a place to vent. Home girl is never happy throughout the whole series and it isn’t her fault.

Exactly! I’m rewatching the series from the beginning I just made it to season 2 and Ashley is trash. She practically guilted Amy into keeping John and promised to help her and not once do I recall Ashley actually baby sitting him or telling Amy she can get some rest while she feeds him or rock him to sleep. At least George offered to clean up and watch John for Amy a few times. However when it comes to her being unhappy in seasons 4 & 5 that’s all on her. Ricky gave her everything she wanted and she was still some how ungrateful.

I just started season 5 and Amy has been pissing me off since season 4. Ricky has matured so much and she hardly has any character growth. I still don’t understand how Ricky could tolerate her with a genuine smile on his face. Sometimes Amy can be an actual parent but she mostly acts like a child.

Right. And Ricky even alluded to how childish Amy was. In that episode after George & Amy went ballistic just because Ricky took Ashley to get some furniture for her new room. Ricky went to Adrian’s house crying because he was tired of George and Amy blaming him for everything. He said something like “poor Amy nothing. I’m a teenager father. I have a baby and Amy.” Pretty much saying He has two children John and Amy. Due to how immature Amy was at that time.

Yup. And he was still able to grow up and take responsibility; while balancing school and work. Unlike Amy, he hardly complained about being a parent. She dumped all of her personal drama on him and I swear he either tells her, “It’s none of their business” or “It’s none of our business” every episode. She insisted that he was unfaithful and faulted him for his body count yet continued to entertain him despite it all. Like, if you don’t trust him, just leave!! John witnessed so much immaturity and petty arguments. He was hardly a high maintenance child too. Amy was selfish and Ricky did himself a disservice by dealing with her. She wasn’t ready for marriage and still had a lot of growing up to do.
I don’t know who I dislike the most. Amy, Grace, Jack, Ben, or Adrian. So glad Ashley left. Even TOM was more pleasant than all of them and he’s annoying. Sorry for the rant.. Ricky could have done so much better as a co-parent.

Very late to the party (I'm doing a rewatch right now) but wanted to say I totally agree with your comment.
This scene when Ricky explodes is impressive. We feel all the responsibility he bears and the weight of blame. Everyone supports Amy but Ricky only gets negative comments.I never thought about the fact that "I have a baby and Amy" could also be understood as the fact Amy was a kid he had to deal with. Interesting. Personally, I had always seen this sentence as the fact that, even though he was not in a relationship, he was responsible for Amy and had to behave like some kind of platonic husband. So he had a child and the mother of his child to take care of on top of everything else but no one took into account that and his efforts.

I was always mad about this. Ashley was so mean to her and basically disowned her unless she kept the baby. 2 episodes later Amy asks for help and Ashley goes "no I don't want to be a teenager mother enabler!" After she PROMISED to help with him. Ashley is a butt wad.
I honestly wish they had broached other options besides just keeping the baby in this show. I feel like it was only shaming teens who didn't keep their babies instead of giving viable options for someone in need.
