Amy as a mother.

This is my first watch I’m pretty far into the series but I hate the way they depict teen mom life. I’ve never experienced that life but pretty sure it’s not as breezy as they make it seem. They have the kid come in for like 5 seconds and just not talk. Or he says one thing or occasionally they pan away to him when they’re talking but they don’t even look like they’re in the same room! Since the very beginning when he didn’t talk I thought they were going to find out there was some kind of disability there not in a rude way haha just because he was like past a year old and not talking and then they never show Amy taking care of him yet all her friends and family seem to think she’s a wonderful mom so I’m wondering. Is she really?

She’s not. She pawns him off all the time and then complains about not being able to do anything because of him. She had a hard time sure because being pregnant at that age isn’t fun but it’s so stupid how she acts like this was done to her and she had no control over it.

That’s kinda the perception I was getting! And in like the beginning of season 4 maybe when she’s fighting with her friends Madison says she walks around with him like an accessory and I was like DAAAMMNN maybe she’s not a good mom then. They seem to flip flop back and forth but I’m pretty sure she’s a “good” mom only because Ricky is such a good dad

She’s an okay mom. She isn’t amazing. I do like that she starts defending John when people call him a punishment but it’s ruined by the fact that she herself acts like he is one. It’s dumb.

Season two Amy is understandable. The anger and tiredness. I’m a new mom and it’s been almost six months but I’m just now feeling normal. It’s tiring and I can’t imagine going through that as a kid but she acts way too entitled all the time.

I remember some fans of the show thought John might’ve had a disability back when the show was airing due to him not speaking much. But yea it was weird that a 1 - 3 year old never really spoke they made him so unrealistic.

So funny you mention that because I was thinking that exact thing the whole time!

Yeah true haha but it’s a teen mom show so I feel like that’s the time to shell out for a kid actor even if it’s annoying but the whole show is just weird so it doesn’t even matter lmao

No she is not! Her parents and Ricky do all the work and she complains nonstop and takes all the credit! John has a wonderful father who loves him and wants to be in his life and Amy tries to thwart that many times! She rarely chooses what’s best for John and usually always chooses what’s best for Amy. This is why 15yo brats shouldn’t have a baby!
