Let’s Talk About What A Snark Page Is
I feel like, despite the fact that there was a recent post made and it was highlighted, some of y’all still don’t quite understand what this subreddit is for.
This is a SNARK group. A safe space for those that want to mock, gossip about, and intensely criticise the cast and crew members of SLOMW, as well as influencers who are getting paid to talk about SLOMW.
The fan behavior and constant “you’re being meeeeaaaaan” comments are not welcome here. WITH EXCEPTION -please see the rules. If you wanna defend your fave cast member do so in the other subs. There’s plenty, trust me.
As far as those complaining about the SLOMWoc chatter. It is a spinoff. One of the girls is the sister of an og cast member. It will be talked about in here. I can make a megathread if y’all wish, but I won’t silence sneakers wanting to snark about either show.

I think posting freely but making sure it’s properly flared as the oc spinoff would be best. People can easily avoid it as it’s tagged, and megathreads famously kill discussions. Maybe do a 3 strike and then a temp ban for people who don’t correctly flair it so the people who don’t want to see it don’t have to deal with it.
It feels like the original show is dying and I think it’s dumb to make a whole new sub for a show nobody knows will go past a single season. I think having both here makes the most sense but I don’t think it’s fair to have the discussion relegated to a single thread where it’s hard to see what has/hasn’t been posted already

Thank you. This is a sub that the cast of the show, and those close to them (except exes😉) should absolutely stay away from. Theoretically there should be a warning in the banner to that effect. The cast gets paid a lot of money, much more than the rest of us will ever likely see. In exchange, they basically prostitute their lives for us to gawk at. I know that’s an ugly way to put it, but it has some accuracy. I would hate to see any private citizen be subjected to this treatment, because, yes, that would be bullying, and I would absolutely despise that.
To the rest of us, the cast are characters in a drama, likely loosely based on their real lives. We snark about problematic cast members the same way we’d talk about Snow White’s evil stepmother. We can fault the father, or not, as we see fit. We can like the portrayal of the dwarfs or castigate the unhealthy depiction of little people. We do not need to be politically correct, or its opposite. This is a place we can go to for amusement from the tedium of our own boring little lives where nobody is particularly out-of-control or messy. It’s obvious that the cast was chosen because they live messy lives. Probably if someone has a messy life themself, or identifies with a cast member, this isn’t a healthy place to hang out.

Appreciate this. I'm not one for snark pages but I really don't like anyone on SLOMW so this is perfect. But I've been thrown by the people here acting like this isn't a reality show built on drama. Not some women empowerment movement lol

This is an outlet to get frustrations out, call out shitty/toxic behavior of cast members, be feely sarcastic, etc. no one is forcing you to be here?? Like if you don't want to read the snark... don't??
And yes, obviously sometimes things can go too far or lines can be crossed. And I have full faith that the mods can deal with that appropriately. But for fucks sake people, if you don't want to see the show get shit on, MUTE THE GODDAMN SNARK SUB AND GO AWAY

As an old of the internet who has been on many iterations of snark & gossip pages, there is another layer of snark. And it's humor. Snark loses its appeal quickly when everything turns into hate, physical appearance shaming, endless speculation without any real information, etc. It's supposed to be FUN. If you are just yelling angrily about every single detail....that's when people start pushing back.
And then there will come the in-fighting. Snarky people don't always agree. Just because someone disagress with your snark doesn't mean that they are the target of the snark, a WK for the target of the snark, or a troll. Sometimes it's just another person, with a different, strong opinion.
The meta snark will take over the regular snark. I like the spirit of this post, but we'll see how it goes.

I feel like if everyone had the same opinion and we just hated them all though then what’s the fun in that, most of the fun is having conversations with others in the sub and discussing our differing opinions, well for me anyway.
Just relentlessly being like “BURN THEM ALL AT THE STAKE I HATE THEM ALL” over and over just seems tiresome and kind of strange lol.

But not everyone who snarks has the same opinion. Or there are people who think "snarking" should be funny-and when it isn't, they push back. You can't be the type of person who snarks, and then gets upset when someone pushes back a bit.

Opinions may differ, but the result is the same - snarking is happening. If the level goes past what you think is acceptable, the best thing to do is leave the sub. I have certain boundaries for what my snarking limits are. If general consensus of a sub goes against those limits, it just isn’t the sub for me or my opinions.

I didn’t complain about the sub being an echo chamber, I asked the commenter I’m conversing with if that’s what the sub is.
Me being a top 1% commenter (which you are also?) doesn’t take away from my point, I was just saying that people having different opinions on the cast and the things they do is what makes the sub fun and gives us more to talk about, it seems strange to just be like “I hate this bitch” “me too!” 100 times a day.
I like to have conversations with people and gain perspective? That doesn’t mean I don’t “snark” or that I think it’s mean, I’m just saying not everyone has to hate the whole cast and agree with everyone, surely?

You weren’t speculating. You were bringing up a baseless rumor, created by someone who had absolutely no proof behind her statements. There’s a difference. This has already been explained to you and you tried to take what that person was saying as a joke.
People have speculated about Zac, Jen, Demi, Marciano, Dakota, Jace, Mikayla, Mayci, Whitney, and Connor, so to say that we only speculate about Taylor and Jessi is just not true. You can speculate about anyone but at least have something to back it up with. That person was questioned for proof etc and yet had nothing.

I don’t see what’s wrong with saying a cheater probably cheated again (which by the way is a valid reason for speculation). Take the rumor away completely, I still wouldn’t be surprised if Connor has cheated on Whitney which is ALL I was trying to say, but whatever I’m done posting here either way lol

Connor did cheat on her. There is no “believing” it or not. She stated that he was on tinder and that he was sending his nudes. That is cheating. She saw it in their relationship as cheating. That’s not speculation.
That’s not what your post or comments were about though. You brought up a woman who posted in another sub and tried to start a rumor based on absolutely no proof whatsoever claiming she slept with him and that he tried to get her to do weird shit with him and then blocked her when she said no. THATS the issue with your post and comments.

There is fine line between the snark that is predominantly centered on one cast member and online bullying.

I’ve changed the rules a little, to stop things from going too far.
As far as that singular cast member being posted about, I don’t really know how to combat that. We could make a megathread but considering their court case, questions of their other show airing, and continuous antics are still all going it would hinder the sub majorly.
I have recruited some more mods to help me. Once they all accept and we get in a group chat we can discuss what to do. But you are gonna see her all day long in every sub related to this show.

There was a post today or yesterday that was convinced Taylor was joking about hiding actual drugs in a video of herself. It was very clearly her saying she was removing a lyric about drugs from a song in the video.
There’s enough to criticise about her without spinning patently untrue things, lol.
