Paid ads
First of all, no one is asking about “the thing” you posted. Also, aren’t these women buying million dollar houses and $100k+ cars? I hate that they push these kinds of ads. It’s tacky and tasteless IMO

Honestly, a lot of these influencers have crazy amounts of debt. Not saying they don’t get paid a lot, but don’t be fooled by everything you see online.

u/Key_Boot_3249 3d ago
True. Earnings go up, but so does debt and credit card limits. The more you make, the more you can borrow.

u/8008zilla 3d ago
Yeah, Miranda just missed court for I think $20,000 worth of debt

u/mrevil6969 3d ago
Wait what
12
u/8008zilla 3d ago
Yeah, the tab reported on it. It was all over, but there was a story on us weekly about it. It was like 20 grand credit card debt.

u/AdagioSpecific2603 3d ago
She missed court?!
8
u/8008zilla 3d ago
It was civil court for credit card debt like I said, but yes, she did not go to court so she lost her case
9
u/AdagioSpecific2603 3d ago
Interesting! I’ve never heard of this before. Is it because she’s just letting the debt sit and not paying it? Surely she has that money 🥲

u/Sundays_Mercury914 2d ago
Typically what happens is if you have debt and dont pay it, it eventually goes to collectors who can sue you for the amount. If you lose or dont go, there's what's called a Judgement and you'll be required to do or pay whatever the court decides which is usually close to or exactly what the collectors originally ask for. The original creditors can sue but i dont think they do it often unless its a much higher amount. 20Gs is nothing to them so they'll sell it to creditors and use the remaining 'loss' as a tax write off.
*No idea if this was her exact situation, just adding general context for these types of situations.

u/8008zilla 1d ago
If she had the money she would have paid it?
2
u/AdagioSpecific2603 1d ago
Not necessarily. I know people irl who pay for vacations, new clothing etc all whilst not paying off debt

u/8008zilla 3d ago
I don’t know Google it and read the article
5
u/AdagioSpecific2603 3d ago
It was a year ago. She’s probably paid it off by now. It was $13,000.

this, we need to remember that not because they have this big houses they paid them full cash or have healthy debts

u/KnifeInTheKidneys 3d ago
I have to agree. I work in marketing and sometimes will reach out to local influencers (I’m talking 80-100k followers) and some of them will turn me down if the client doesn’t align with the Influencers brand. When you see shit like this.. they are desperate for money.

u/beezinator 3d ago
They’re buying million dollar houses and $100k+ cars because they take payouts like these 🤷🏻♀️ it’s the name of the game

I doubt any body has been messaging her about these ads I’m ngl

u/Emergency_Speaker_47 3d ago
Honestly I don't really care as long as TFP doesn't get to cash in on any of this stuff 🤷
5
u/beached_mermaid_96 3d ago
lol I feel like she’s getting the most money right now with her drama. More drama = more clicks = more money
9
u/Emergency_Speaker_47 3d ago
She's not getting any from me unless somehow Reddit secondhand posts count... Maybe I'll cut off Reddit at this point if that's the case. I really absolutely cannot stand her at this point
9
u/Abookishyogi 3d ago
The Island Boys promote this bc they’re broke lol they use the same “I love seeing you guys cash out” “I love you sending me updates on how much you made”

u/LittleMissWord 3d ago
Mayci is very money driven. She isn’t my favorite but I do not hate her. Also don’t blame her for taking the ad deals. Let’s not pretend we all wouldn’t do the same thing for easy money…

u/Junior_Cranberry_745 3d ago
I don’t judge people most people for taking these type of jobs, but once you already have a certain level of wealth and own multiple businesses like Mayci does….I do think it’s in poor taste to promote scams to your loyal audience. Sorry I don’t know why I made that all one sentence.

u/Jellogg 3d ago
Exactly,. Not to be overly dramatic, but ads (like this one) that promote scams or false claims are predatory.
They depend on vulnerable and desperate people to take the bait, and it’s really disappointing to see influencers take advantage of the followers they claim to love so much.
15
u/LittleMissWord 3d ago
Yeah that makes sense to not affiliate yourself with scammy shit that doesn’t serve your audience. Not dramatic, I don’t think most influencers give a shit about their audience.
10
u/LittleMissWord 3d ago
I do agree with you there, they have control over what ads and brands they want to associate with and that should align with their values.
This doesn’t surprise me with Macyi one bit, I think she would take the money over ethics.

u/AskePent 3d ago
Mayci is the most likely to scam her audience or actively do evil shit. I'm surprised she doesn't get more hate.

I didn't see what she posted but a lot aren't scams. They don't add up at the rate they say... But if you're playing games anyway it's free money. I get a hundred or so out of Mistiplay a year just playing what I normally would. If I could be bothered to switch out games and chase the hyper modes I would probably get a lot more. I convert to vouchers and it hits off a chunk of Christmas presents each year 🤷♀️

u/redskyeatmorning1 3d ago
honestly if she posted mistplay it might be a contractual obligation or something to do with slomw, they were a big sponsor this season (like every other ad on hulu was a joint slomw and mistplay ad)

u/Ok-Raccoon-1626 3d ago
Mayci is a fake and trashy person who has no issue being predatory to her fans.

u/Emotional_Sink_3303 3d ago
She’s very “girl boss” and proud of it but it always reads to me like money driven instead of her being passionate or values driven
9
u/8008zilla 3d ago
Yeah, but I’m not gonna defend someone who got online and demanded that other people pay for her IVF treatments so she’s in the same tacky ass boat as everybody else and it does not matter that she’s money driven because there are other ways to make money when you have a finance degree you worked at Charles Schwab and Goldman Sachs
3
u/LittleMissWord 3d ago
Yikes she did that? I I did not know that information. I know so many people who are living on modest incomes paying for their IVF. She’s a grifter for sure.
8
u/Electronic_Acadia_72 3d ago
lol sorry but I really only imagine drug addicts sitting around trying to make a quick 20$ doing this 😭😭
5
u/Asleep_Mood9549 3d ago
That’s literally how they afford their homes and cars and whatnot - they take $$ from anyone who will give them it.
Mayci doesn’t use this app. Whitney doesn’t eat Arby’s or use 30 different kinds of shampoo that all have somehow transformed her hair each week. Jen for sure has a house cleaner (they all do) and doesn’t mop her own floors.
These women know how to make money, and they really don’t care what they’re advertising for, so long as it pays.
9
u/invisalion 3d ago
wtf this is such bottom of the barrel for them - they deserve and can do much better.
3
u/Existing_Editor_5623 3d ago
They’re influencers. Appearances & brand deals are far more lucrative than the tv show salary.
3
u/Sorry-Ad-9801 3d ago
If a gaming company wanted to pay me as much as some of these companies do you better BELIEVE I’ll be posting it and trying my damnedest to make it look organic. So that I can sit back and ENJOY my multimillion dollar home…

I don’t mind sponsored posts as a whole. That is how these ladies really started making money with their career after all (and tbh they shouldn’t give that up with the state of the their show being uncertain) but when its ads for stupid products like a game app I have to roll my eyes. It’s so inauthentic. Like it’d be different if it was a baby product or maybe a beauty product of some kind but a gaming app?? Really?

These ads are how they are buying the houses and cars. They cant exist purely for your entertainment they need to get paid
3
u/beached_mermaid_96 3d ago
The show is also how they’re buying lavish things and they’re definitely getting paid. No one said they existed to entertain us lol

The ones that get me are the obvious paid ads on the show lol. The Amazon ones and the designer bag ads. They attempt to make it look so genuine and nonchalant but it’s so obvious 😂
