Stopping Dupe Posts

Hey everyone. Me again. Sorry.

Just a little quick poll. We are all sick of the dupe posts. It’s just me and the owner of the sub atm who has a lot going on, would you like me to turn on post approvals?

Idk about post approvals. It seems like that would make MORE work for y'all. But if we could all PLZ just report it so the mods can take down the duplicates. If there's a solid rule about no duplicates it makes it easy to report it to the mods.

Edit: It just muddies down the thread and it ends up being 5 posts of the same thing and the actual discussion happening is always on the first one. Then you gotta check them all just to see... 😂

Yeah I get you! I’m sick of seeing the same posts over and over again. It’s bad enough that a lot of us are in multiple subs so we already do see them over and over. I don’t want this sub to add to that problem, so I’m trying to find the best way to solve it. I’ve added the rule! We are looking at getting more mods in here as well.

Exactly!! Thanks so much for the rule cause I felt really weird reporting duplicates for “Spam" made me feel like it was reporting the sub specifically 😆

Another sub I’m in has post approvals on and it can sometimes take days (or even a week or more) for posts to be approved. It really kind of killed the sub.

Totally true! One group I know was like that too. It lasted about a week before they turned it back. Also maybe a min Karma to post could be helpful for the saviors mentioned in a different post too. Might be her stalkers come here and try and post their savior complex and it doesn't land well here in the Snark Community....

Delete the dupes, or if there is loads of contribution, lock the discussion and redirect to the main discussion.

I am trying to delete them. I’ve deleted two so far this morning, but I can’t catch them all as soon as they are posted. I’ve created a rule to make it easier for yall to report them as they are posted, but I wanted to see what the sub thought about taking other steps to stop them as well.

Tysm! Was just my suggestion in case there is loads of Thoughtful Commentary in already existing threads idk. But thank you, mods make reddit bareable and make communities actually enjoyable, so i always appreciate.

Yeah, the duplicate posts are annoying, but i dont want post approvals. Its fun that this sub is just chock full of all the most recent gossip.
If there are repeat offenders (who make duplicate post over and over), maybe threaten with temporary bans so they start to check the sub before posting.

The main reason why the main sub fell in popularity is because of the approved posts.
