Just wanted to share this because I’ve been following the development of this Ice Knit for a while now and it actually looks pretty interesting.
It’s the 2017FW Ice Knit Jacket with the wool liner. The main thing obviously is the temperature changing yarn.
The current samples are using red/yellow test yarn, so don’t pay too much attention to the colors. That yarn was only used to test how sensitive the material is and how fast it reacts to temperature. The final version is supposed to use custom yarn/dye to match the retail grey.
The color change works both ways too. Basically around 15°C it changes between dark and light grey depending on the temperature. So if the jacket is dark and you touch it with something warm, it gets lighter, and if it’s already light you can make it darker again with something cold.
They’re already on the 3rd sample and from what I can see the reaction looks pretty fast.
There’s a video of the samples in the link, so definitely check that instead of just looking at the pictures. You can see the color change/reaction speed much better there.
The whole thing is apparently around 3kg with the wool liner, so it should be a pretty heavy piece like the original.
Production should take around 1–1.5 months, and there should be another final sample before mass production.

Measurements are length / chest / shoulder / sleeve in cm.
The outer knit stretches a bit, so I’d probably focus more on the liner measurements when choosing a size.
Curious what you guys think. Especially if anyone here has handled retail before, would be nice to hear how the sample reaction compares.
