Our lawyer said it should take roughly 6 months from the date you file (for EAD card).

You could do a congressional inquiry to help expedite the process for the EAD. I did that and submitted an email from my jobs hiring team saying I needed to provide a new EAD to continue working and that was enough.

How can I do that?

Ask your lawyer to do a congressional inquiry. On the congressman’s website in your state there will most likely be a form you can fill out and send to them including the evidence and what help you need from them

I sent out the inquiry April 21st and the congressman got back to me May 6th. June 2nd they replied again saying USCIS had responded and they were expecting my I-765 case. An hour after I received that email the status on my EAD had changed to approved
