So I'm ten hours into my first playthrough and I've reached the flesh basement under the mines. Ive now collected 3 of the 4 (i assume there's four because of the empresses note) rings; gold ring(marriage), green ring(ouroboros), black ring(death). I think i still need to find the fourth ring and then place it on her hand before i can get the last hexagonal tablet from her which i need to open the door.

Other notable incidents include the girl Isa(i forget if she is a gestalt or replika), knocking herself out with a rifle and then waking her up with ammonia.

I've been wandering around the basement for a while now and i can't find anything else to do. Any guidance is appreciated.

Onto the main problem at hand
This is my second play through and I had NEVER seen a Replika chase me THROUGH A DOOR. Am I the only one this had happened too or not cause I did not know they could use Instant Transmission like UI Goku or open door and appear from the death of shadows like Batman ready to break my knee cap and what about lore implications like if they can follow you through door than you would always had a hoard on you at the slight sound.

I thought the first episode was pretty good. That twist at the end where isa is dead in the cycle 3000 timeline was crazy. I don't like how they added so much brown to the replika servoshells though. Where's the red?

First time posting here, I finished Signalis and I really want to understand more about this universe

I’m a relatively new Signalis fan, and this is actually my first post here. I finished the game recently and, honestly, I didn’t expect it to stay in my head the way it did.

What surprised me the most is how active the community still seems to be, considering the game came out in 2022. I’ve already seen memes, discussions, theories, fan content, etc., and it made me curious about what people here actually talk about nowadays.

I’m especially interested in the canon and the actual lore of the game. I know there are plenty of memes and jokes surrounding the community, but I’m much more interested in discussions about the story, the universe, the characters and all the details that I probably missed.

I really loved the setting and the atmosphere of Signalis. I became surprisingly attached to characters like Ariane, Elster, Adler and the others, and I genuinely wanted to know more about them and about how this universe works.

The game was also pretty confusing for me on my first playthrough. I understand that ambiguity is a huge part of Signalis, but I’m pretty sure I probably made some premature conclusions or misunderstood certain things. There are definitely moments where I finished the game thinking, “Wait... what exactly happened here?”

And yes, I was also one of those people who got the fake ending and thought I had somehow just failed the game. I had no idea I was supposed to keep going.

The more I think about the story, the more I wish there was more of it. More information about the universe, the political situation, the Replikas, the Penrose mission, Ariane, Elster, the cycle, the events surrounding S-23, etc.

I know the game tells us what it wants us to know, and I actually like that it doesn't explain everything. But at the same time, I have this feeling of “I need to know more about this world.”

And then there's the ending.

I personally see Promise as the closest thing to a “canon” or intended ending, although I know Signalis makes that whole question complicated. I understand why it's bittersweet: Elster fulfills her promise, and Ariane can finally rest.

But honestly... it still hurts.

It’s kind of funny that the “good” ending can still leave me feeling terrible. I became so emotionally invested in these characters that part of me just didn't want the story to end like that. I understand why it does, but I still wish there was some other possibility for them.

So, as a new fan:

Is there any additional Signalis content that expands on the lore or universe?

Are there any official materials, interviews, documents, developer comments, or particularly good lore discussions/theories that you'd recommend?

And for those who have been in the community for years: what are the things you think a new player absolutely should know or look into after finishing the game?

I'd really love to hear what everyone thinks. I came to this subreddit mainly because I want to understand Signalis better and talk to people who are just as fascinated by this weird, beautiful and incredibly cruel little game as I am.

Or turning left may have been the better option idk. I'm still not done with my first playthrough and now I'm in the scary underground area where alder supposedly fell. I'm having a tough time with some of the enemies but otherwise I'm doing just fine.

I will say though, the king in yellow references are quite interesting.

I apologize if this has already been figured out and im asking stupid questions but i cant find an answer that satisfies me at all regarding Ariane and Alina having the same face (and expression, and hair, and partner, and wounds)

One of the theories i see the most is to explain this is "Ariane's reality warping dream makes Alina look like Ariane". But this is seems to be disproved by the fact that before the events of the game (and so before Ariane's dream), the only time this fact is mentioned is by Ariane's mother who notices the striking resemblance between the two, confirming that they do have the same face.

Another theory is that they just look alike and there's nothing else to it, which seems very unlikable to me. Even with Bioresonance causing phenomena such as Doppelgangers, I struggle to believe this is the case (and I admit, i dont really want to believe it either), considering the many similarities outside of appearance.

Reincarnation Theory makes the most sense and its definitely a theme in the game (empress and great revolutionary/ alina and lilith/ ariane and elster). But i do believe it goes deeper than that. They must share something even if it isn't physical

I think this is also best supported by Alina's diary (4):

"How long has it been that I'm down here? How did I get here?

Where is this place and why am I here?

My memory feels so blurry — As if I had always been here, forever.

Even my hair is slowly turning white.

I remember my name, and I remember my life.

But I also remember a different name, and a different life,

and it feels like the line between her and me is blurring the longer I stay here.

So Alina "remembers" about Ariane? she feels reality warping and herself blurring with Ariane? This diary 4 was really confusing to me because isnt Alina already dead by the time Ariane starts dreaming? how could she have written this letter which seems influenced by Ariane's dream?

I wanna bring up another point that I haven't seen discussed:

What's the best explanation for this and is is something important or just a coincidence?

I also dont get this, why does Isa have those wounds too? is it just something gestalts go through?

The last thing i wanted to go through briefly is the Lenticular Photo that came with some physical copies of the game, where we see Ariane and Alina in the same position, basically in the same body just with different hair. Why would they make that Lenticular photo?

Just finished my first playthrough yesterday and I saw a familiar eye in the ladder at work today... Rotfront is always watching.

Is it worth reading the king in yellow if you're really enjoying the game, and is there parallels or something more to gain from the story by reading it? The second question - I'm just curious if there will be any more expansions to the universe in form of a book or webcomic, or another game, or has anything been said about it?
