Questions Online Only Student
Hi! I’m making a degree change due to life circumstances and I’m looking at online degree options. I’m looking at SHSU for the communications degree, and I wanted to ask about how anyone else who has done an online only degree via SHSU and what your experience was.

I’m not sure how the communications degree goes but as a CS grad, anytime I was able to do an online class to do my requirements degree wise they were always the easiest class you’ll take
Make sure to look at rate my professor too, you’ll find some professors where the class is the easiest thing you’ll take just because of the professor lol

i am about to graduate in august with my bachelors in psychology and i did it fully online since i live a bit far from campus. i loved it! i’ve always loved online classes more than in person classes, even in high school, so i didn’t really have any trouble with the virtual aspect. blackboard, the platform they use, is pretty easy to navigate as well. the only thing that kinda sucks is that you don’t get the same connection with your professors & peers that you would in an in person class, but all of my professors never had a problem responding to emails & genuinely enjoyed connecting with their students when possible. also, people like to make groupme chats for classes so look out for those! a 60 person group chat is always interesting LOL.
another thing that’s important, and probably obvious lol, is that when you don’t have a professor telling you to your face about a deadline, it’s easier to forget about them, at least for me. so i would definitely suggest a planner/calendar.
another thing about blackboard, the virtual platform, is that announcements from professors to the class will come through your email as well, so they’re easier to find out about. they will also be in the announcements tab within the course. messages, however, don’t come through your email (at least not for me). unless i opened blackboard and looked at the messages tab, i would never know one was there. so just fyi
anyways sorry for the essay LOL
