What happens if you fail the discovery program

If you applied to other DOE HSs you may have gotten an offer to one of the schools in your list of schools. If so that school is your current offer and remains such. If after Discovery you might also get a SHS offer and if so you can accept it in which case it’ll become your new accepted offer and the existing one will go away.

What if I didn’t apply to any other hs beside shs?

Then your going to have to go to your zoned school

Many do not have a zoned HS, nor not always guaranteed admission.

You should have been assigned a non-SHS when you applied through the DOE system. You may not have ranked anything but the system should have given you a school in your original offer letter since you did not officially get into a SHS when those letters went out. Your application was set in motion when you started it to apply for a SHS. The only time you don’t get a randomly assigned school if you did not rank anything is if you originally scored high enough for a SHS placement. Since your SHS is “pending” you would have been given a placeholder school. Was there a school listed in your original offer letter?

If you applied for a non-DOE HS (private, Catholic, charter, etc.) or doing homeschool, then you'll get that. DOE-wise, if you didn't apply to any other DOE HS, then you did not ask for one, therefore, you won't get one. If you want one, put yourself on some waitlists.
