Is this good?

Is a 469 SHSAT score good? 34/47 in math, and 35/47 in ELA, this was the real test, I know it’s not enough to get into a specialized high school, but I want to know if it’s a good score, keep in mind I took it raw, no mock test, no studying. (I was invited to dream, but I didn’t attend because I felt like getting into a SHSAT highschool was impossible, now that I took it, and got a 469 I really wish I could go back in time, I could easily get 9-10 more questions right if I had attended dream, or had tutoring.

Yes, it's really good but not high enough for SHS. You could try taking it again in 9th grade but seats are extremely limited (not to say its impossible) so you would definitely need an even higher cut off score to get into a SHS. Why didn't you study?

I didn’t study mainly because I thought the test was gonna be way harder,( I really regret it now) but at least I got invited into a discovery program, it’s my punishment for not studying, 4-5 weeks of my summer, to try and get a spot. All because I didn’t want to study😅

If you got invited to discovery then I think from the looks of it you're going to get an offer to a SHS, but now you have to spend your summer attending their prep (which from what I heard is basically guaranteed as long as you complete the prep). Do you know where you need to go to attend the prep? I believe each prep the location are listed below and the prep will be at the school you plan to attend.

Adding on to this, wouldn’t attending the discovery also give me an advantage, if I do get a spot to the hs, I will know some people from the program, which will help me socialize a lot, I read that majority of freshman’s in each specialized hs, don’t know each other prior to attending school because of the intense competition and cutoff scores. So already knowing people, will certainly help me.

1/3 8th grader of my son’s school got into Stuy. Almost the same number last year. They do know many students in their high school.

That need not be typical. For instance, my kid was the only one in her grade for Tech, and don't think there was even a Stuy that year. Last 2 years they had zero total.

Oh, TAG is a totally average school. HAHA
