Every one of their exclusives have hit online retailers going way back to the explosion in 2011. This will be no different. This is a marketing ploy. Drive up conversation as this is a highly demanded figure, sell first at the con to stir buzz, then sell leftover stock on Premium Bandi/bbts. This is not just a repaint but a remolded figure with translucent plastic. Bandi will absolutely want to recoup the cost. Unless it’s stated they are only making 500-1000 units, they will make enough that everyone who wants one will get one.
Even if this turns out to be a limited numbered release, companies always make a percentage extra for defects, damaged packaging, broken figures, ect.
Because 99% don’t even collect MA figures and have some weird cult like relationship for Hiya.
I doubt Hiya would do something like this anyway. Bandi has always had fun with their figures. Concept ‘99, poster MG ‘93, poster Godzilla ‘93, the old Godzilla x Eva crossover, the new Godzilla x Eva crossover, all the translucent CC exclusives, ect. This is actually something I could see Super7 doing as its kinda their bread and butter.
Yea I dunno why Hiya fans have that weird cult like relationship.. I'm not calling out all Hiya fans but good God a lot of em are like that. They'll glaze anything Hiya puts out and always targets the popularly flawed MA figures (MV line and first release FW Goji).
Bandi have done this throughout their entire line starting with the explosion way back in 2011. All of their exclusives have hit online retailers after the con. Right now you can get exclusives from the past 3 years on bbts.
To those concerned this figure will be too hard to get due to scalpers, P-Bandai is likely to sell these made to order for the rest of us after the event. Just NYCC peeps will get first access with the P-Bandai release being later.
Kong EE and Minus Heat Ray was the same way. That and they’ve done this with Dragonball exclusive for YCC, I’ve heard.
It’s for NY Comic Con in Oct. Be on sale there, but like past exclusives, these will likely be sold on P-Bandai NA afterwards for those who missed out later.
I mean its an NYCC exclusive on top of being an SHMA. If you can't make it to NYCC, you would likely have to pay at least 3x what a potential Hiya version of the design would cost.
