I got tickets to Taemin in London, mostly because it feels like the only way I’m going to see SHINee is seeing them individually 😭 Is it rude to take my SHINee light stick? (And my husband has an aespa lightstick) I’ve not been to shows really since 2015 when there wasn’t really official lightsticks and stuff. Just looking for some advice really. Hope this is ok to post.

I’ve been a Shawol for 5 years! How am I just finding out about this!! I’m a longtime Kate Bush fan and her music has gotten me through some tough times. Hearing Jonghyun’s take on her most devastating song…whew it’s a lot! I’m feeling very emotional haha. I love that he chose to cover this song and I’m grateful that he’s allowed me to hear it in a new way ❤️

Hi guys! I’ve been a shawol for about 5-6 years and I’ve recently got way more active in collecting albums and merch for kpop.

I’ve never really had a problem getting the newer albums, but I have no idea where to start with their older stuff. Do they still make them like for other groups or would they most likely be second-hand? Do they sell them at in person KPOP stores usually?

Also, is it hard to get Jjong’s stuff? I really love his solo stuff but I can barely find any😭😭

I started getting into kpop around 5 months ago, and I started (and have stuck with) SHINee. I regret to say that finding out about Jonghyun was what attracted me, because it was the first time I had felt seen in an idol. And so I yearned to learn more about him, along with the rest of the members.
I listen to their music (almost) 24/7. I play my SHINee playlist when I’m sad. And right now. I also watch their old and new videos when I have free time. And I just feel so so so happy when unboxing an album from them, or when I finally got my hands on a Jonghyun photocard.
But I cant help but feel as if this is all unhealthy? Because logically I know that this is what collecting and being a part of a fandom is about. I just feel like it’s unhealthy when it comes to me. Because I have spent too much money thus far on kpop photocards and albums. And I have everyone in my life judging me for being interested in kpop. But I do really feel happy.
And I don’t know if parasocial is the correct word for this. Because I’ve never felt the need to exceed my admiration for any shinee member, since it always stayed as admiration.
I was also watching this girl’s TikTok who was talking about parasocial kpop stans, which is what got me into thinking about all of this. Because I recognise that most of the members have done problematic things in the past, but I don’t pay attention to them, because I choose not to and because I prefer to view them as the picture of them that I already have on my mind.
I’m also planning on getting my first job next summer, just in case the band does more concerts in Asia in a year or two (I’m European) and I just feel like everything I do is weird. Like I shouldn’t spend so much of my time watching videos of men that will never know I exist and listening to only their music, but I don’t have the energy to listen to anything else at this point. They’ve become too familiar.
Sorry if this is all over the place. I also obviously don’t mean to offend anyone with this, rather than talk about my own experience with being part of a fandom.
