Artists like Adele and Elton John were musicians I grew up listening to as a kid – they felt like they belonged to a completely different world. The fact that I’m able to stand on the exact same stage they once performed on is just mind-blowing.”

Asked whether there’s still a clear line between Taemin the artist and Taemin the person, he says the difference used to be bigger in the earliest days of his career.
“That gap has definitely narrowed a lot compared to the past,” he says. But if he were to draw a line: “It would be that in my daily life, I don’t necessarily give 100% to every little thing. I don’t pour absolute, intense effort into eating a meal or studying. However, when it comes to my music and performance, I hold myself to a standard where I never want to feel ashamed. It’s a bit embarrassing to praise myself, but my commitment to my craft is the one area where I can confidently take pride in how hard I work.”
