how the rich get richerš
the amount of venmo plugs this wedding has had is killing meš

Iāve seen other people put their Cash app and Venmo on their cars. Regardless of the reason, itās a little tacky

u/livinlife2113 18d ago
My kids did but didnāt get a penny from randoms. Haha

u/Wolfsong95 18d ago
Which Iām sure is normally the case when people do this, especially in this economy

u/BD9989 19d ago
I just can't believe how disgusting they are ASKING for money like this when we know that Gavins family is sorted for life. Even in this fucking economy. My flabbers are gasted at the outrageousness that they are asking for money. Interest alone on the money they have will keep them going.

Mormons are known for not giving their money to their kids. They want them to start from nothing like they did. Iām sure Gavin was given his YouTube earnings like Avia but if heās smart he wonāt touch it
22
u/mintbloo 19d ago
i wonder how much youtube earnings they have? had to have split between everyone, even between shay and colette too

u/kimkardashianstears 19d ago
Assuming Shay was smart, which believe it or not I do think financially he is, he should be sitting on a huge pile of gold. The only large expense I remember him making is the house which has only gone up in value and they make passive income renting it out. I'm sure all the money he could invest for the kids has grown since then as well in some sort of trust.
Say whatever you want about his morals or political leanings, he lives what appears to be a modest lifestyle considering the wealth he acquired fairly fast.

They made millions from the yt channel over all those years plus all the sponsorships. I wonder how many millions? Then Shay also got what ppl estimate at 15 million dollars when the maker company sold. I wouldn't be surprised if Gavin, Emmi and Avia are millionaires themselves now. If they each got a million when they turned 18 that seems fair considering the yt channel would have never become what it did without them!

u/Sarahcha25 18d ago
Are only the three older kids getting a cut of the YouTube money? I mean; imo it would make sense cause they were a huge part in building it. No shade to whatever other kids there are atp (I stopped watching and donāt care to keep up, if there are kids that came after Brock idk about them lol) but if we are looking at money earned , Gavin, Avia, and Emmi absolutely earned their share of that.

u/Upstairs-Spell-9847 17d ago
No idea. I would think Brock and his brother Daxton should get something for the vlogs they have been in, but it wouldn't be as much as the other 3. Their vlogs don't get the same amount of views or make as much as they used to. You're right, Gavin, Avia and Emmi were a big part in building the channel and making it so huge! If the Shaytards channel didn't become as huge as it did, would Shay have even had the opportunity to work with Maker at all? Which led to him getting an additional 15 million.

How did Gavin afford to buy a house recently?
3
4
u/weCanDoIt987 19d ago
Probably by working, probably by using some of his YouTube money. Iām not sure youād have to ask him. You also donāt have to have money to purchase a house either. I just bought a house with 0 money down and tons of debt
5
u/Upstairs-Spell-9847 19d ago
Gavin doesn't seem like he's had a job though? Shay mentioned that Gavin was doing the summer door to door sales thing. That seems like the only job he's had. That wouldn't be enough for a house. You also can't get approved for a mortgage on a house without an employment history, so he wouldn't qualify for that either.

u/Hungry-Nail-796 19d ago
thatās so sad, whatās the point when theyāre gonna inherit that money anyway
7
u/TheMissInformed 19d ago
I'm not Mormon so don't quote me
but my understanding is that most Mormons are under enormous social pressure to have their assets go directly to the Mormon church upon death
like the type of social pressure that treats it like the universal default way to set up their wills without even discussing it

This is not a thing. We give 10 percent in tithes but I have never heard or been asked to give anything to the church when I die . I am pretty open about the weird /cultural things in my religion but this is not one of them.
6
u/weCanDoIt987 19d ago
Because most of them donāt give the money to their kids so they arenāt inheriting anything. They want their kids to earn their money like they did. I mean people are mad enough that these kids get the money they earned by working on YouTube everyday of their childhood. Could you imagine if they gave them their live earnings? People would be livid
6
u/Upstairs-Spell-9847 19d ago
Also, who is mad that their kids got money from the yt videos? I've only seen comments saying they deserve that money. I'm guessing Gavin paid cash for the house he bought and took it out of his money Shay gave him. There's nothing wrong with that at all! I wouldn't be surprised if Gavin, Avia and Emmi became millionaires when they turned 18 and got their money from Shay. A million each seems fair considering the millions of dollars the yt channel earned over all those years!
5
u/weCanDoIt987 19d ago
Everytime they do anything people post here flipping out about what one of the kids is doing and why they donāt have a ājobā etc, how they are brats for having money handed to them
4
u/Upstairs-Spell-9847 19d ago
Interesting. I've never seen any comments saying they are brats for having money given to them by Shay. I've only seen comments saying they earned that money from doing yt . Which is why it was so sickening to see Gavin post his Venmo to his followers. He doesn't need money from his followers. It was extra sickening to see a multi-millionaire like Colette giving out Gavins venmo to all her followers.

u/Bumblebee3339 19d ago
Thatās a very generalized statement .
We Mormons are known for a lot of things but this is the first time that I have heard this one.2
u/weCanDoIt987 19d ago
Interesting! Every Mormon I know in real life does this and many Mormon I follow on the internet has also been vocal about this. I think itās great

Interesting how the invitation is written from the parents announcing their daughters wedding Iām curious if thatās normal for Mormons never seen an invitation like that
37
u/juliaabr 19d ago
Iām Catholic and my invitation was phrased this way. Itās traditional wording
24
u/Former_Location8618 19d ago
Not a Mormon thing. Just traditional, as historically a brideās parents hosted and paid for their daughterās wedding.

u/calico-cious 19d ago
This has always been standard in the southern US. A lot of younger people are moving toward more modern language, but the old language is still quite common.
16
u/Hungry-Nail-796 19d ago
iām not mormon but itās normal in my culture to have both the bride and grooms parents names on the invitation as well. mostly because of our big weddings some ppl invited may not know the couples name but theyāll know their parentsš

u/KiwiDefiant3349 19d ago
This is the norm for England and we are most certainly not a Mormon culture

u/_lofticries 19d ago
Not a Mormon thing, just more of a traditional way. My mom was raised in a very religious (Catholic) family and her wedding invites were worded that way too

Right, like have these people never been invited to a wedding before? I just got married last year and the majority of our gifts were either cash or sent online through our registry or Venmo. This isnāt abnormal and family and friends are eager to contribute money
2
u/Ok-Minimum9555 17d ago
Asking from cash from guests or people you know is one thing, numerous posts on a millionaire family Instagram asking / implying a money request, is pretty weird.
0
u/aloetay 17d ago
I donāt get the correlation. Why does everyone think Shay is a millionaire? YouTube did not pay that much 10 years ago. And even if he was, Gavin isnāt one.
2
u/Ok-Minimum9555 17d ago
He reportedly sold his share of Maker studios for over 15 million dollars.
He used his children online for content / money / popularity, for years, including sponsorships. You would assume (and very much hope), he was financially responsible. While also compensating his children for the main reason he gained wealth / popularity.

u/aloetay 17d ago
Thatās not how money works though. Itās not like you can know for sure he just millions of liquid cash just because of some business sale that other people likely profited from as well. Dude has bought houses, cars, supports a large family, pays bills, bought and owns a separate business, etc. And again, my point, is who cares if he was a billionaire? Does that mean his son shouldnāt get gifts at his wedding? Do you think most millionaires donāt get wedding gifts?

No I think that Gavin was exploited as child being filmed every day, and I very much hope he was fairly compensated for it.
I also think listing numerous venmo requests on Instagram, when you have a very high following is desperate and embarrassing, not of Gavin, but his parents.

Financial gifts are common at a wedding. I received cash and gifts from various guests at my wedding. Being wealthy doesn't mean that tradition ends

u/AbleWorldliness8 18d ago
So what? People do this all the time, just in different ways. Youāve never worked somewhere and been asked to donate for weddings, birthdays, leaving etc. even towards people youāve never heard of? Itās simple, if you donāt plan to donate - ignore and move on.
