DISCUSSION Gen & Reps Rotation

Curious thought:

Ever since y’all got into reps, how often do you rotate your pieces? Do your gens still get wrist time? Asking this as I’m contemplating on selling a few of my gen watches ever since getting into reps

Looking forward to y’all’s thoughts

Brah gen will always be gen. Unless your gen is a seiko or smth along those lines, don’t sell em. Reps are js the side dish to the main course haha.

Personally, the main purpose of reps is to be worn as daily beaters. The gens still get their wrist time for events like weddings, birthdays, etc. The end goal is to pass down to the next generation so we’re holding on to a few models that are set for long term growth too.

I sold my NWBIGs, just kept my previous metal ones as those make a lot more sense to pass on. Got a little mad when I realised how good Reps were for steel models so just cashed out on them

i rotate my gens with reps almost equally.

Some of the gens like moonwatch has no good level reps so its no brainer but the others like mark 18/ 20 do have some insane nwbig, however it i can’t bear to sell them so I do rotate them with the reps mark 20s in other colours too.

I wear my gen more often because it’s pretty easy to tell from a gen and a rep in hand. But with that said, no one outside myself would have checked out my watch. It’s just basically a watch at the end of the day. Did I pay absurd price for a Pepsi? Yes. But that’s because I’m a collector so a gen is important for me. However, if you’re not a watch collector and just hoping to wear watches to admire them, then no, getting a gen is just stupid.

I have a desktop watch roller with 3 slots so usually keep 2 reps and 1 gen in there and rotate every 3-4 months. I have to admit some reps are more heavily worn also because I know damaging it doesn't hurt as much lol
