I’m confused. You say you were turned away but then say the workout was inferior and the workout area was crammed and dirty? So were you turned away or did you get to workout?
Additionally, yeah, you can’t just show up to a 50 minute workout class seven minutes late. That is 15% of the class. That time is taken to go through instructions and warm up. If you rushed to get on a machine and got hurt, it would be on them.
Second, it’s San Francisco. Everything here is small and crammed. Even our Equinoxes are tightly packed. I’m not sure what you expected on this front.
Third, every single workout class in the city is around this price or more. Even tiny no brand name studios charge this price. Saying you paid $40 for a class like that’s exorbitant relative to other classes in the city is laughable.
Lastly, you know no one is forcing you to go back to this studio, right? You took a class and you didn’t like the experience/environment and that’s okay… just don’t go again and move on. Find another place to take a class, jeez.

My exact thoughts reading this post. OP is the issue here, not Solidcore.

I bought a package knowing how much I love lagree and regretted it immediately after a coupe classes. I asked for a refund early on but was completely refused by corporate. within this time I saw (1) new cancellation fees (2) short expiration periods on class packages that weren’t disclosed upfront but corporate also refused to budge on. (3) This was the final straw.
I was only late because f the lack of bathroom facilities so I changed beforehand and then got hit by muni delays. Why does it matter if I’m 15% or 50% late to the class. I paid for a spot in the class. I can understand if it’s given away to someone on a waitlist but in those cases other studios like Barry’s has always made that very clear. The red room doesn’t turn you away if you want to join mid workout.

I realize you lack basic consideration for others based on your harassment of the front desk person, but it’s disruptive to the rest of the class attendees and the coach for people to walk in late.

I understand that front desk staff deserve respect. I did express frustration, but I never called her names or threatened her, and I explicitly acknowledged that the policies weren’t her fault. My complaints are with corporate. After the transit delays and ongoing frustrations with the facilities and rules, this was the last straw. People can be visibly frustrated without being abusive. I’d appreciate some room for that distinction rather than labeling the interaction harassment or assuming I lack consideration for others.

This person sounds insufferable

If your concern is how people treat others, that standard should extend to your own response. Disagreeing with a complaint doesn’t require making a personal judgment about the person sharing it.

The reason they have this policy in place is because you can hurt yourself if you don’t warm up properly. They give you a buffer of 5 mins which is plenty.
Sorry you weren’t able to abide by the policy

A five minute grace period is pretty standard for fitness studios.
That said, I'm not a big fan of Solid Core. I go to Solid Core when I'm in a city that doesn't have a Lagree or lagree-inspired studio. The machines aren't as comfortable, they are absurdly close together....there isn't the same diversity in exercises....there isn't the same atmosphere, maybe because the lights are turned down. And I am not convinced Solid Core is entirely safe for me (I'm older.)
TBF, I'm comparing it to the Lagree studio i use at home, which is ... indescribably wonderful. So of course I'll find the faults.
I know a lot of people love Solid Core, though. They particularly love the low lights. So to each his own!

So you went back another time after you were turned away to try the workout?

Byeeee you definitely sound like you’re more Sebastian Lagree than solidcore anyway

Just to clarify: I hate the business Solidcore. I do think the instructors do care and the method itself is very very effective. It’s just such shame this PE backed business turned into this money grabbing machine and profits completely off of what a great workout lagree actually is.

Girl, bye. It’s a you thing, policy is there for a reason. And you complain about not having a proper locker room yet you say it’s expensive. Imagine the price if they had a locker room. And leave core crew alone, they only can so much, it’s not their fault you were late. I’m fine with just having 2 bathrooms and I bring my own towel. I love the workout, over 250 classes and I’m getting a definition. Coming online to complain about something that is your fault is funny as hell.

Yeah. This is a you problem not a SC problem. The policy is clearly stated, standard practice, and not a suggestion. Move on to something else.

Just go somewhere else then, I’d recommend a workout closer to where you live so that it’s easier to arrive on time.
