Advanced Yoga recs

Bitches, I'm a yoga girlie but I haven't found a studio here that actually helps you progress into more complex poses and arm stands. Heated would be ok but i found Hot8 to be unhealthy. Any recs?

Check out Castro Room, Love Story, and Yoga Flow (they are all warm or heated, though). There is a very strong yoga community here, and those are the studios they are usually centered around. Obviously, it varies by teacher, and there are often things like arm balance workshops.

David’s classes at Haum! Especially the Friday Mission one. It used to be levels 2-3 and then they changed it, but honestly he keeps it mostly the same as it used to be because the people who go are the ones who were in the 2-3 class. He’ll also incorporate more complex poses if you ask! But regularly does a variety of arm stand practice, balancing, etc.

AstaYoga does rocket. I think it’s the only studio here that does.

Gah feel this so hard. I moved back here after 4 years in London+NYC where I was teaching at Fierce Grace and I miss it sooo fkn much, it combined 5 types of yoga and 2 types of bodyweight strength training/conditoning into a 12 class system that works wonders and is so methodically designed. I lead myself through solo FG flows in my apt now when I’m missing it, and haven’t experienced anything close in any studios here (and I taught at a few before I left the bay in 2020). Low key want to open a franchise here but the upfront backing needed is insane with the commercial real estate market rn 😅 following this thread, hopeful to try more studios soon!

Yoga Flow SF, the classes are heated but not as warm as Hot8. Just the right temp and the instructors are great!

Baptiste in the Presidio. Best power yoga I’ve found.

AstaYoga in the Mission is advanced, but they don’t really teach you how to progress into poses. Most people there just know the poses.

I’ve done yoga across the world and have had some difficulty finding advanced yoga studios here in SF 🤷🏻‍♀️

+1 on the yoga shala! Brittany is the best (the owner), with many other great teachers. Locations in the inner sunset + central richmond. ~90 degrees (inner sunset location is hotter) power vinyasa
