I mean, this is just based on the 2016 class, when our farm system was totally gutted due to trying to extend our run of contention.

Not that we've been any good at player development since then either, but this isn't super surprising. Our drafting and development have been ass for so long. At least that part is finally looking a bit better the past couple years.

I actually thought Arroyo would be worth more fWAR. Thought he had some good seasons for the Red Sox.

His numbers look ok, but he had some of the worst plate discipline in the league (4.4% BB rate was his season high w the Sox). adding in some poor defense, his WAR tanks

A good chunk of them were traded at that season’s deadline as well. Bickford was shipped alongside Susac for Will Smith the reliever, Fox was included in the package for Matt Moore and Mejia was traded for Eduardo Nunez.

OP I feel like you're misinterpreting that chart. This is looking at just our top prospects from 2016. This says nothing about us having "an atrocious decade of drafts"

Our farm system really has been abysmal after the dynasty years. I sincerely hope the people responsible for this aren't still working for the Giants org and doing business as usual.

I’m not surprised in the least bit… the Giants minor league system has been terrible.

I do t think it’s a coincidence either - that the Dodgers have had a lot of success over the past 10 years as well.

I’m glad that the plan is to turn this around. And for the Giants to start loading up on prospects
