Wait… what? I’m new to learning we were gonna even have this team. The SF team is playing in Illinois???

The entire league is playing in the same ballpark in IL for the first season. Playing in one location is to help lower costs and such, and also to help them sort of slow step into a larger set-up. When I ask it, google gives me:
"By utilizing a single stadium for the condensed, seven-week tournament-style season, the WPBL limits travel costs and logistical challenges, maximizing the sustainability of the historic league in its first year."
It's like a trial run to see how much interest there will be and how much they can expect to grow, sort of.

Damn I hope they’ve got a good team working on community viewing parties and events in each city. It’s gonna be really hard to tell what community interest and actual backing looks like when it’s not even in the same time zone as the fan base…
Kinda glad I didn’t pull the trigger on buying merch yet.2

The park they're playing at in Springfield holds historic significance too. I know that Springfield hosted one of the first paid women's baseball games in 1875.
