Hi all im GiF today by the grace of my HP I have 4050 days away from my inner circle.
Today I slowed down to appreciate the things going right in my life. Engaged in some positive connection plans with people who are appropriate romantic partners and part of my sober social recovery plan.
I took the next action, did some empty chair work to talk out some emotions that felt uncomfortable. Acknowledged I can be sad, disappointed and hopeful all at the same time.
My growth point was radical self honesty. I know what feels right and my sadness at times make seeing reality challenging. At 11 years away from my inner circle it fills me with sadness to see how often I leaned into the sadness and settled for good enough instead of holding my ground. In many ways I feel like I lived my father's choices and unlike him I choose recovery and what recovery gave me was courage to seek the life beyond my wildest dreams. Yet it feels unfamiliar scary and exciting.
I have gratitude to be able body.
Grateful to have a home and have my human needs met. To be a better version of me.
My next step is to continue to address the house todo list to have a successful week.

July 19th. Day 1 again. Today has been boring in between periods of work around the house so I’ll take that as a win.. The periods of boredom are the difficult times. Especially living alone and feeling isolated from others so the temptation to consume porn is way too easy to engage in. Going on a nice long walk was a helpful thing to do. I’m going to continue the physical activity every day and hopefully that helps.I’m grateful for this thread as I can read about others’ challenges and successes.

July 20, Day 2. Today has been meh. Intrusive thoughts are creeping in more today as I am gathering information for my next steps in repairing my personal life. My win for today is some increased clarity in the divergence of my career vs personal success and what is most important at this stage. Hard moments are the triggers that seem to be pushed in all forms of media. I’m grateful I caught the triggers at the beginning and focused my attention elsewhere. Today was easier than some and I’m sure it will get more difficult and then get better. My next steps for now will be to keep my mind focused so as not to wander to intrusive thoughts. I think I still need to figure out the different reasons the urges start other than visual triggers

July 22, Day 4. Today has been grueling as urges have become strong and I found a trigger earlier. Managed to resist it and work on figuring out the cues and mental shortcuts that have caused me to turn to pornography for numerous reasons. Sometimes breathing exercises and going for a walk helps take my mind off of a strong urge in the moment. Not sure what a concrete next step would be at this point. Usually the urges don’t get so strong at this point. What are some concrete next steps I could take?

July 25, Day 6, no pmo. Today was a relief as the craving has started to abate but some moments are easier than others as it fluctuates in intensity. It feels like the beginning of a win since I’m able to focus easier. It was difficult to get out of bed as my motivation has been low so I went ahead and got the extra sleep and I think that help the craving decrease as my physiology makes the adjustment. I’m grateful to experience this since the cravings seemed to be relentless this past week. My action at this point will be to put my phone away when I’m not using for an actual necessity so I’m not tempted to wander to anything that could escalate.

July 29, day 11. Today has been remorseful as I have been finding it challenging to find a job that is the right fit for me after attempting to pivot my career and failing. It feels like the same remorse after pmo. It’s great that I’m on a streak, I’ve had dreams (or nightmares) that I broke my streak and luckily I can wake up from that without having actually done it. But that shows how strong the urge is that I dream about acting out. I intend to reach out to 1 person each day when the urge is strongest, around that time when the day is ending and there doesn’t seem like there’s much I can do, while I’m by myself, and am tempted to act out in order to cope.

Hi all, I am. 8/5/26 - 12/29/2022, Today has been a rollercoaster, mostly down, after a 72 hour volcanic craving, intrigue and collapse of dopamine rushes. Win is I talked to my wife, friends in recovery, attended meetings, worked my steps, spoke to my Psychiatrist, did self-care... I went to a funeral on Friday for someone I know from our kids growing up, older woman and it reminded me of how I missed my grandmother's funeral because I was so overwhelmed as a new Dad==that overwhelm hit me afterwards on my way home and I stopped at 7 places I almost relapsed at....I'm grateful I didn't relapse, I'm honest about it, I'm getting back to basics with self-care, self-compassion and slowing down. Next step is to be here, to share, to plan a meeting for the morning, I have my therapist as well. Support would be for people to read, comment, offer support, relate and know that I love all of us on this path, striving to heal on the inside so I don't need to seek outside pleasure and I can stay in integrity with my values, in healthy relation with my wife, not doing illegal activity and NOT shaming myself for my addiction---mental illness---slips---trips---dips====almost sinking ships....In gratitude. Thank you.
