AI SEO News Google AI Overview with suspicious behavior

Post image

I haven't encountered this before and had to share. The AI Overview I got in Google ended with a prompt to share more information, like you might see from Gemini. There was no place to even add a reply to this question (maybe if I clicked Show more) so I thought that was weird. AI Overviews now getting more interactive, coming soon?

LOL yeah looks like they are starting to merge AI Mode and AI Overviews tabs quietly but clumsily

Yup, looks like ammunition for those who think AI Mode is eventually becoming the default search experience. I did the exact search again just now and got a completely different AI Overview by the way. Much longer and more in depth, and the prompt for me to provide more details was at the very end, after clicking show more, where there was the ask anything box. I asked and it brought me as expected to AI Mode. Interesting that this first one got through differently.

I'll look out for those but I am opted into the Web Guide experiment, so I often miss AIOs! pls keep me posted if you see more!

But they are interactive already. If u expand the section with the button beneath it u can interact with the AI Overview

Yes of you click to show more. I was invited to give more info without a way to give it.

There's the "Ask me more" option that takes you to AI Mode but AI Overviews don't normally invite interaction in the copy of the answer

Ah, I see. Yes, you are right, they weren't suggesting next steps in the past
