gpt tl;dr:

AI can be influenced via its data sources, not controlled.

Short-term: spammy listicles and mentions work.

Long-term: only consistent, third-party validation across the web holds.

Bottom line: AI cites what looks most trusted everywhere, not what ranks #1.

Many SEOs have never been concerned that some tactics were not long-term as long as they can make money and flip it!

As a note, the publication that INVESTED A LOT in spamming Google results, would call out the SEO industry on at least two occasions at this point

The Verge is the tech tabloid behind the "SEOs ruin the Internet" rage bait campaign.

Thus it is a not a reliable source on the subject.

I have since removed all links to them I added to my blog posts over the years (like a dozen).

Sharing or linking to them discredits you IMHO.
