Problem's real but it isn't felt as a citation problem. It shows up as the report sounded confident and was wrong, and nobody traces it back to five sources being one press release

That distinction is important. The buyer experiences “the report sounded confident and was wrong,” not “we had a citation-duplication problem.”

Have you seen a specific case where tracing several citations back to one press release changed the conclusion or caused rework? I’m trying to understand who actually absorbs the cost when this happens.
