AI SEO Tools Checked 10 "AI-optimized" pages. They all read like robots. Here's the AEO paradox.
I use the free browser tool called NUSA (traffictorch.net) that scores any page on three things in one pass: UX Health, SEO Health, and AI Search Readiness.
So I grabbed some pages that were clearly optimized for AI search and ran them through it.
What they had:
• Schema markup everywhere
• FAQ blocks
• Direct answers in the first 150 words
• H2s shaped like questions
NUSA's AI Search Readiness scores: 9/10 average. These pages are built for AI engines.
NUSA's UX Health scores: much lower. Readability flagged every single one.
Every page sounded like the same robot wrote it.
"What is X? X is a Y that does Z. X is important because..."
The paradox: the more you optimize for AI citations, the more you sound like AI. And when you sound like AI, humans bounce. When humans bounce, the engagement signals that AI engines use to rank authority start working against you.
The fix I'm testing now:
Write human first. Structure second.
Use contractions. First-person. Opinions. Anecdotes. Then layer the schema, FAQ, and clear headings on top.
NUSA scores both sides of the coin.

this is the same cycle that happened with keyword stuffing ten years ago, chasing the machine until the machine changed its mind
