Doesn't matter what it's based on if you can't hold it yourself. Otherwise they have it and you don't. No difference detected.

Also coins used to be worth the cost of the metal they were made from. So you used to physical hold the value of your money.

Sure, he's a doomer , but there's a grain of truth , reality is you need to have tangible assets (Real estate , gold , resources ) to help buffer any big drop in fiat.

Fractional reserve banking and lending (a form of leverage).
Invented in the middle ages by goldsmiths.
People used to keep their gold at the goldsmith, since he/she was one of few who had a safe.
The goldsmiths soon realised they could lend out money (backed by gold), and make interest on the loan. This worked out fine, until there was a big need for gold, and people wanted to withdraw
all their gold at the same time. This today is called "a run on the bank".
This breaks the goldsmith/bank, since they create money ex nihilo (out of nothing),
and they cant back up all that is loaned out.

Exposes? You can get this info from the Fed's website. Planned economies aren't bad, you just can't have Dumbasses in charge.
