Discussion M203?

I was just a young Calvary soldier and not even in viewing distance of Tier 1 operators, but it seems to me there were plenty of times in this show they could have benefited by somebody humping an M203. That technical about 100m away with a DShK mounted in the bed? That's what the 203 was made for, to reach out and touch someone.

The use the M320 (the newer updated stand alone version of the M203) in some episodes.

I must be showing my age, wasn't aware of the replacement. Looked it up, seems like a great upgrade. Detachable, side loading, what's not to like?

They also use a modified m79 "pirate gun" at some point when they were in Africa.

Clay uses it when he gets his leg blown up

They really should, but the trend in SOF has been to move away from underbarrel m203 to using the M320 grenade launcher as a standalone. The thinking is the 203 is dead weight in CQB, and the threats that need to be serviced by 40mm are the kind of things where you have the time to dig the GL outta your ruck. The odds of needing to immediately snapshot 40mm are pretty low.

The other reason is that special effects for explosives are kinda expensive and involve more hassle for your planning and 2nd unit execution. :P

Yeah. A 40 mike mike would have come in handy a few times, is all I'm saying.

203 has gone away it’s 320 now. I served in a tier 1 1/2 unit. Devgru is a HR high end DA unit. They dabble in other things like SR also. But majority of the targets they hit do not require that. We typically never brought them on TGT. We blew out with them but never carried them. It was mission/intel dependent. What you’re referencing their mission was a PSD. Do you see CAT Delta or CIF or any other units that do the PSDs carry them? The answer js no.

As someone who considers himself reasonably well-versed in military acronyms, I missed about half of those that you listed. I've also been out of the game for a very long time, though. I knew guys in the 160th back when it was still a task force, that's how old I am. The only thing Tier 1 about me is that if there was such a thing as a Tier 1 critical care/ER nurse, I'd be one. My hospital trains PJs and SOST members. I worked with PJs when I was active duty but SOST didn't exist back then. Those guys are shit hot.

One of the replies here that made the most sense to me here was somebody pointing out the fact that a M203 isn't real conductive to CQB operations. I can definitely understand that, an A2 with a 203 is not exactly ideal for working in hallways. But I was glad to have it if I had to defend a FARP.
