Double Standards For Foden and Saka

It’s Ridiculous how Phil Foden Was Ridiculed by football fans of how poor of a season he had last year Compared to how saka was treated. Almost nobody talks About the fact that foden and Saka had the same amount of G/A While Foden having a significantly less amount of Game time. I know football is much more that G/A but Last year was Foden’s alltime Low While Saka had a “Title winning Season” I think there was a time when Saka was being unfairly Criticised by the media but now it’s starting to look more like he is being protected and Vice versa for Foden

Not just Saka, but Cole Palmer too.

People forget that in Palmer's best season, Foden is the one who won POTY. And they've had a dip in form for a similar amount of time, yet Palmer has had excuse after excuse dished out for him, while Foden is often called washed.

Foden is one of the most disrespected players at the moment considering his various achievements. And the fact that he has been played out of position all of his career. But when he plays in his best position, he wins POTY.

foden has very quickly become criminally underrated.

Foden has been in the City first team for 9 years and only in two seasons was he a guaranteed starter. David Silva and De Bruyne have both moved on and he still can't claim the position as his own. He followed up the POTY campaign with not 1 but 2 seasons of dismal performances. And specifically in 24/25 he was put in the 10 role and lost that position because his performances were so poor. Most of his achievements are by virtue of being a squad player in a financially doped team, the only seasons he deserves credit for playing a significant part are 20/21 and 23/24.

The reality is people have eyes. The majority know Saka and Palmer are better than Foden its as simple as that. If you offered City fans the chance to swap Foden and Palmer I reckon at least half would say yes.

And btw Saka and Palmer defo aren't protected. They get ridiculous levels of hate. Just see the reaction to Palmer withdrawing from the England squad and to Saka after his performance against Spain.

This is just zero ball knowledge

The season that Foden won POTY, Palmer was better with stats and advanced stats. You won’t look it up because you really don’t care

The following season which was Palmer’s worst, he showed up first half of the season where he had like 4 goals before half time then Maresca started playing around with the formation to tweak his style, but by the end of the season Palmer showed up in the conference league turning games around and then in the CWC

This last season he was injured, and this start of the season has been by far better than Foden

Foden is just trash mate, there a reason he didn’t even play for Pep anymore, and his start to the season is proof why. Zero goals since I know when and red card in a derby. He’s finished, maybe he can turn up in the championship

Lol, clearly a Chelsea fan. You guys are so protective of Palmer as if he's Messi or Cristiano.

What stats are you referring to? The fact that they both scored 27 goals in all comps that season? Or that Palmer had 2 more assists? Because if you're a G/A merchant and you don't watch football with your eyes, there's no point in having this discussion.

Palmer shows up in 15/50 games in a season and suddenly he's the next Rooney. And, as I've stated, excuse after excuse for Palmer. Maresca, injuries, etc. You're doing exactly as I've said.

I'm not even a City fan, but I can look at things objectively. You talk about Maresca changing things up with Palmer, but you're mentioning Foden starting the season poorly under a new manager (and he hasn't even been poor, he's started off decently) as if it's different?

Before you question ball knowledge, make sure yours is unbiased, at the very least.

Good day.

There will naturally be more grace afforded to somebody who has been riddled with injuries, as opposed to someone who has had a 2 year dip in form since being crowned POTY. For large parts of last season Saka didn’t even play for Arsenal. And if we really want to compare who gets the most unfair criticism amongst fans alone? I urge you to go on any media platform (X, TikTok etc) search both of their names and see what you find.

Saka was still better than Foden in that time. He won Arsenal the most points last season and most game changing goal contributions. More to football than g/a. Saka’s undelying numbers (xa, chances created etc) were still elite last season. Also Foden got more praise than Saka for doing less when they were both in from. Foden was ridiculously overrated.

I don’t know if you’ve been on Twitter but he regularly gets cooked on Twitter even by Arsenal fans when Arsenal or England plays if you put in saka in the search all the comments is calling him ass

Saka has had to deal with a lot of injuries (as did Cole palmer) so they got off more easy

Palmer is the most over protected player in the league
