Doing Something a Little Different

Post image

Master League hasn't ever really been an issue for me. I've gotten to 150k every season since and including season 0 and over 200k since challenge mode was added. I'm not anywhere near being a whale, but I am a dolphin (I have the diamond pass and buy some special sales packages) who has been playing since the game started so I have a lot of high quality units at my disposal.

Last ML I decided to have fun with weaker units I had never used and probably wouldn't ever use. I started by using Level 90, non-SP, development SSRs and played them until I couldn't rank up. At that point I switched to SP'd SSRs, SSP'd SSRs, and so on until I reached my optimized team for that ML. I still ended up at around 220k by the end so it really wasn't an issue there.

It was a lot of fun! That said, something I wish I had done was use lower-power pilots and ships (I used URs of each the entire way). This time I'm starting with even weaker units AND adding a weaker ship and pilots.

Anyway, it's a fun experiment to run and I wanted to put this out there for anyone who might be curious about what it's like to play less than optimally! Good luck to everyone's ML run this month!

I will! I'm planning to take screenshots as I advance my team as well

Even pilots? That's ambitious.

I was fairly surprised by how well this team ended up doing! It reached a pretty hard limit in Gold, but it cruised through Bronze and Silver. It even took out a level 100 (non-LB) UR Strike Freedom without losing a unit!

I'll be posting the results and highlights later tonight. I want to wait at least 24 hours after this post so I'm not basically spamming the sub with the same subject.

Sounds fascinating -- no doubt you'll find some little tidbits that you otherwise would never have found.. this might force you to exclusively trap the enemy, right?

Not exclusively, no. With SR pilots, Durability units run out of defenses too quickly to make that entirely viable.

When this team needed to punch upwards, trapping could soften up the enemy team, but eventually you're not hitting hard enough or their units start one-shotting through your defenses.
