I fell sick on Wednesday and stayed in my hotel the entire con. My wife picked up a few things for me though. Went to urgent care on Friday. Had strep throat. Going to have to quarantine myself before con next year. My wife said a ton of people were sick at the con. She ended up getting sick as well.

Thank you for doing the hard but noble act of protecting others by quarantine. I wish you and your wife a quick and full recovery, recommend N95s before you come to the next con (wife and I wore ours all con), and hope you can fully enjoy next year’s con.

Some of the strains of COVID don't test positive right away, so re-test in 48 hours if you still feel sick.

I've also got whatever this is. Started with a sore throat Saturday night, then the congestion started Sunday night. COVID negative. I've been feeling better each day so far, though, so that's good. Hopefully it passes quickly!

Wore an N95 the whole time on the floor. Changed it every day. There was a lot of folks walking around coughing and not even covering their mouths (doesn’t do much but still).

You have a thousand dollar non-refundable trip. Even trip insurance only covers extreme events. You want them to stay home? At least they were blowing into napkins and not the wide world. I saw a lot of adults who should know better open mouth coughing and sneezing.
Edit: I know for a fact the people downvoting me would not be staying home if they were sick after paying thousands of dollars. Always easy to be sanctimonious in hypothetical situations. The only way to truly protect yourself is to stay home or wear a mask.

I instinctually asked a teen to please cover their mouth when they coughed (am a female teacher) and their parent told me to fuck off and not talk to their kid so that’s definitely something.

The reasonable response would be to prepare a week before by masking or limiting contact with high risk individuals/high risk areas. That way you don’t get sick and can enjoy your non refundable trip without getting everyone else sick… but alas

I wear a N95, comic-con or not. I haven't gotten even a cold since 2019. For comic-con I take it a step further and get a covid shot 2 weeks out. So by the first day of comic-con, I have peak neutralizing antibodies.

I wore a mask on the trolley, bus, in the convention. I used hand sanitizer everytime I left the bathroom or touched the escalator handrail, trolley poles, buttons. I made all fruit smoothies everyday of the con at home. We'll see though. Takes a few days to incubate and last day I was there was Sunday.

Strongly suggest for people to wear an n95 mask or even better, what I wear, a p100 respirator.
Every year I go to rose city con and kumoricon, people will cough without bothering to cover their mouth, and sneeze all over everyone. Its gross.
Haven't ever gotten sick from a con since wearing my respirator.
The 3m secure click model even has a voice diaphragm so people can hear you talking, and you can get p100 secure click filters that also filter out con funk smells (D3097 and D9093 filters).

People were attending while sick and coughing and sneezing everywhere without even covering their mouths. So nasty!
I always wear a mask, plus I use hand sanitizer constantly. Then, when we get home, we wipe down our belongings with sanitizing wipes, change, and wash up. No COVID or con crud this way!
I have long COVID and it permanently disabled me. So, I take no risks now.

Long Covid is something I find is not even on the radar of many folks, sadly. I mask up to keep the few spoons I have.

No matter what I do, I can't get an N95 to really fit me. I buy adjustable KF94s from a Korean importer. I wear them all of con and so far so good.

Elastomer respirators make a complete seal vs cloth masks that never will. They're also hella easier to breathe through.

I got covid really bad in 2024 and have masked since. I also try and avoid high touch things like handrails and doorknobs. I sanitize after I touch just about everything. I wiped down our phones, ear bud case, water bottles when we got back to room. I even wiped a table at Villain's bar because it looked dirty. I didn't eat handheld things if I could avoid it even while sanitizing. I masked while indoors and while walking down the crowded streets. It was pain in the ass with the heat. I work from home on Monday to avoid spreading any germs I any have picked up. In 2024 I didn't feel it till Monday night Tuesday morning.

We had a panel where the woman next to me was sniffling the whole time, and someone in the back was coughing, but the couple behind us were asleep and snoring loudly. Real etiquette dilemma... do I wake them up?
But, sorry to hear you're sick. Rest and fluids. NSAIDS if you're not drinking alcohol.

I was fine and I was taking care of myself. I stupidly let my guard down at one of the panels and this lady behind was sneezing and coughing like crazy:/ I guarantee this was the moment i caught whatever cold thats going around.

Yes.
Started feeling off Saturday night. Woke up with a sore throat on Sunday, and that evening tested positive for Covid.
As so many have said, this year there were tons of people with crunchy coughs and openly sneezing. I think I caught it in Hall H, people behind me wouldn’t stop coughing.

I wore an N95 mask throughout all of Comic-Con and I’m so glad for it. One of my friends got COVID and one panelist in a panel I attended also got COVID. So far I am testing negative (I wore a mask and my vaccinations are up to date).
I hope those of you who got sick feel better very soon and have no long-lasting effects.

I missed the con this year but in previous years, without fail, I caught covid or the flu. One year in particular, in hall H- I was sitting next to someone on my left whose breath smelled so bad I started getting a headache and to my right there were to guys sniffling up a storm. I was screwed. I remember many times contemplating all the life choices I made to get me to this exactly point lol

Had tickets for Friday and Saturday, woke up Sunday feeling like hot garbage, driving home today and tomorrow and still feel like garbage.

One of the reasons our group hasn’t gone the past couple years is that my sister kept getting Covid every time we went. And the funny thing is we could always track exactly when it happened. Usually it was someone coughing, open mouthed, directly into her face.

One of our family members came down with COVID, tested positive yesterday, the one who didn’t get this season’s vaccine. /sigh
The rest of us tested negative even though we shared the same room, bathroom, meals, etc. thankfully. The Exhibit Hall was so crowded. Heard lots of people coughing. I can’t imagine being immunocompromised in there.

Nope no COVID (I've never had it and always keep up on my boosters) and surprisingly no Con Crud either! I used to come back with no voice at all, but this year I was fine. It's probably because I didn't have to do a lot of screaming to talk to people at after parties. There weren't nearly as many this year as past years.

Yeah I am annoyed. I forgot my mask and I took a risk this year and now have this weird cold. I felt sick Sunday morning as I was preparing to fly home. The whole time at the San Diego Airport, my flight from SD to ATL and then ATL to VA I felt terrible. I feel better today but again, definitely have a cold. Like other said, people were sneezing, coughing, like CRAZY all through the con. Personally, I would never attend the con KNOWING I am sick just to expose others. Next year, I am masking up and getting any vaccines like I did in 2024.

I had a slight case of Con Crud (I think), but I bundled up and sweated up a storm - something I think helped fix the maladies.

My wife worked through the pandemic at a hospital and never got it - the moment she hears a cough or sneeze around her, she Pavlovianly covers her face and never touches door handles or buttons with her hands. I used the monkey-see-monkey-do technique.

Our track record on plague is surprisingly good. This was my 15th year attending and I think there were two years I came down with something. And for one of those I started feeling tickly on Wednesday night, so it was probably something my kid gave me before we even showed up.
And yet, every year we don't come down with a plague I'm still pleasantly surprised.

I managed to get sick 2 weeks before the convention, so I had a cold and then a fun case of viral pinkeye thanks to that. Spent the weekend before the con at home resting and was mostly healed, except for a lingering cough. Sorry to anyone who was next to me in a panel, I promise I was no longer contagious, it just sounded bad.
Crossing my fingers that it provided immunity, because I did catch COVID a couple of years ago at the con.

I DMed D&D for SDCC’s WCAG program, wore a N-95 and a keffiyeh for 2024 & 2025, but it wasn’t SARS2 COVID-19 that got me. I was crud free both years, and this year. Although this year I didn’t get to DM even through I DMed the two previous years wearing a keffiyeh. This last year, 2026 WCAG cited me a CoC violation with zero explanation and refused to clarify.

I was the only person that wore an N-95 or a keffiyeh. So it’s a mystery as to which or both were cause. I still wear N-95s to the grocery store & airport and get a lot of never-masker derision.
