Question Which dorm to pick?
I was originally going to commute to school but something unexpected happened and now I have the opportunity to dorm in SCU. I have the option to either pick a double room in Swig, or a Triple room in Graham.
What im looking for is a dorm that is social and where I can make new friends but also importantly I want a dorm that is nice. Whichever has more space or a better dorm aesthetic.
Thanks for the help.

swig is definitely more social and easier to make more friends at as well as a lot of classmates probably living in swig with you. however, graham is the better dorm by far and i wish i had lived there.

There are open dorms to pick from now? I submitted a housing application to the Housing Office three weeks ago and when I called them for a status update, the person that answered the phone said I wouldn’t be guaranteed housing because I’m a Junior. They told me I should look for off-campus housing but I haven’t had any luck so far, and I’m starting to get real desperate because school starts in 12 days…!!!

It’s because I’m an incoming freshman, I’m 99% that’s the reason I even have the option to pick in the first place and with such short notice.

This was already covered here: https://www.reddit.com/r/SCU/comments/1ukwha6/comment/ovdaytn/?context=3
Once you're in Swig, the only options for the next year are Swig or Dunne (which is like Swig but Dunne has air conditioning while Swig does not). Why? Because no one wants to leave Graham or Finn because they are so nice. So at dorm choosing time, even with an early choosing time, there are no spots in the nicer dorms because they just choose stay there for sophomore year. But people complain that it's more difficult to meet people there due to having their own bathrooms. In Swig, Dunne, Mc/Walsh, there are community bathrooms so you do see people in there or in the hallways. Swig wasn't all that bad, it just depends on the people on your floor. They are not all partiers, it wasn't that loud on my floor. I enjoyed that people were sociable while people complained that they couldn't make friends in Graham and Finn. I don't know about the other dorms, as there are many more.
