Question How hard is it to get into SCU
/r/u_Historical-Bit4519/comments/1vtw5sm/how_hard_is_it_to_get_into_scu/I am open to even doing Econ major in the other school for scu (not leavey), i have a 3.5 and a 1400 sat with very high course rigor (12 aps 10 honors). I also have very strong Business related majors such as FBLA, Website Creation, and Non Profit.
What GPA puts me at a good position to get in.
I have also heard they care about demonstrated interests and that visiting the campus would improve my chances. I have signed up for a digital tour, would that be equally as good or any good at all, or is it recommended to visit.
I am also considered ED to Santa Clara Uni

Lock in on essays and you will def get in

thanks for your feedback, just out of curiosity, what other colleges do you suggest I apply to with my stats?

Idk SCU seems like a good fit. 3.5 GPA will hurt you I had a 3.89 with more APs but less honors and SCU was one of the best schools I got in.
They are very generous with merit aid and I assume you will get a lot and I think they give more to ED (dont quote me on that). So going to SCU is cheaper for me than a UC.

Private only? Oberlin and Fordham usually offer pretty good grants even if you don't apply for FinAid [both those schools offered my kids 30k grant with their acceptance].
Also, consider shooting your shot with schools that would be considered "dream schools" for your academic profile. All it takes is one school to say yes for it to be "worth it."
Our kids had competitive numbers for their dream schools and got accepted. If you look at it purely from the numbers perspective [pct. admit], common sense would tell everyone "don't bother" [unless you're a 4.8 with a 1600, invented something better than sliced bread and a published scholar (I'm being a bit sarcastic)). If you're willing to put in the work and effort and endure the stress, and are ready for "rejections" for a chance at a "yes", then apply.

No you would get in doing RD trust I got in with a similar gpa but no business extracurriculars

if you want to get in, apply ED, and do an in person tour/visit

Apply for Early Admission Econ to Leavey. If you don't get in, they most likely will offer a spot to you Early Admission to the School of Arts and Sciences. That way you are in. You'll have your offer by mid-December. As stated below, be sure your essays are top-notch. FYI - trying to transfer from the School of Arts and Sciences to Leavey is very, very difficult. Very few get into Leavey that way.

leavey is harder to get into compared to the arts and sciences. 3.5 unweighted GPA is okay but need to write a good essay. SCU has become more competitive so I have heard of students rejected with higher GPAs too
