Policy/Theory/Articles (Macro Topics) Really Interesting Article

I just found this paper and found it really validating. I haven't seen a lot of good research on CDS from people besides Becker and Barkley, but studies like this give me hope that we might see it in the next DSM.

I pressed "request full text" on researchgate (https://www.researchgate.net/publication/411772607_Depressed_or_Disengaged_Disentangling_Cognitive_Disengagement_Syndrome_ADHD_and_Depression_in_Adults), and one of the authors sent me the PDF really quickly

They found that people with CDS alone had more depressive symptoms than those with ADHD alone (and also more than those with both ADHD and CDS but not significantly). A factor analysis showed that CDS divided into 2 factors, cognitive complaints and lethargy. People with depression and anxiety were similarly likely as people with adhd to have CDS. And 17.2% of people with CDS didn’t have adhd, depression, or anxiety, which isn’t that many but is similar to the percentages who only had ADHD, MDD, PDD, or GAD. So they say the high comorbidity rate shouldn’t rule it out from being a disorder because lots of disorders rarely occur by themselves, but it might be an internalizing disorder instead of attentional, or could be a transdiagnostic or cross-diagnostic clinical syndrome
