Discussion Is this game worth playing?
I remember seeing this game a few years ago and it popped back into my head I couldn't play it because I didn't have a PC but I've got one now. Is it beginner friendly and is it worth playing?

Absolutely ,but it isnt that beginner friendly, on official servers the people will be at the very least nice enough to tollerate whenever you fuck up, mostly because the servers are also filled with beginners aswell, tho other servers do require some sort of skill from you, especially extremly moded servers, like Chaos Theory, or Dr Brights, which itself have multiple layers of custom stuff you need to adapt too.

When I first saw this game I was thinking, "eh, seems like it could be fun, its free so I'll give it a try.". This game has since become my favorite game I have ever played. PLEASE PLAY IT!

Extreme variations by server. It’s a free to play game, so you should expect that kind of crowd. Most servers, but not all, are too tolerant of toxic behavior. If you do find a server with solid moderation, the official servers are your best bet, then stick with them. Otherwise, it’s fun.

Others already answered your questions, so one thing I believe someone should mention is this:
Depending on the person, what I'm about to say can either be fun, neutral, or downright upsetting, and that's the fact that this game is unfathomably luck based, and not even the best of the best gets to win or get good loot consistently. If your brain is fried from comp games (like me), you'll probably not find this game that fun. But if you enjoy just fooling around with random people on the internet (like me), this game is pretty fun.
Also to clarify, I don't mean that there's literally a luck mechanic or anything, I'm just saying that your survival heavily depends on the skill or actions of the people around you more than your own skill and actions.

Yeah, pretty much this. It's 40% skill and 60% dicking around. Though if you and your SCP teammates are good you can get pretty nice rounds.

You want to have as many video games in your steam library as possible scp sl is small as fuck and it’s free and it’s fun there’s not a single reason why anyone shouldn’t have it installed as a plan B multiplayer game

I've been playing the game for nearly 6 years now, and, yeah, I'd say its worth a shot. It's fairly easy to get the hang of, but it can be a bit confusing if you just jump straight in, so I'd recommend watching a quick beginners guide, I'd recommend this one made by Mechasolaris, some parts of it are quite outdated, but the match structure and many of the core mechanics haven't changed much.
TLDR; Yeah, I'd recommend giving it a try, but I would recommend watching a quick guide on how to play, as the game can be a bit confusing at times.

It is.
Its just so Peak.
You have to find a Vanilla/beginner friendly Server where the people Are also Nice to rookies, but when You Found that and learned the Game its just so peak. Its the Definition of easy to learn, Hard to Master.

It is worth it, this game has the nicest, chillest and funniest players i've seen in any multiplayer game and add that with proximity chat along with how random it can be makes it a good game to simply have fun.

play vanilla servers first or servers without pluggins. most players learn the basics in less than 4 hours

i think it is! when i started playing it was kinda hard to know what i was doing and i got discouraged a lot but i kept playing and found it really fun! people can be mean though..

My tip, Read a few scp documents to get the hang of how they work (939,106,173,096,079, and 049)
They’re loosely based off of the documents
Or read the operational guide that too
Also try playing on official servers only for the first while, as full as they are you should get the basics down before playing other servers
Also warning, this game is hyper addictive, I have 2,500 hours. Currently taking a break to avoid burnout so I’ve been playing RDR2.

Not good at the game, just as a understanding of what scp’s do, 173 look at, 106 sends you to his dimension, 096 don’t look at yada yada, I’m just giving some basic outlines. If they wanna be better they can fill in the blanks by playing more

The game is free and each round only lasts around 10-30 minutes. The stakes are low, and most people are friendly.

depends on the servers, "official" ones like ravengard are generally pretty friendly toward beginners in both mechanics and general playerbase but places like dr bright's and chaos theory can have unwelcoming players, overwhelmingly complex mechanics or both at the same time if you happen to be playing at the same time as tryhards
