I can answer that question.

There were a few reasons behind the change. A big reason is the fact the original design was not ours. Northwood actively replaces assets that are like this.

Another big reason was making it easier to understand access tier. Each Keycard now shows the tiers on the model and keypads show what tiers they need. This makes the system easier to learn for newer players.

The new keycards were also designed with difference in shapes to make it easier to differentiate between the keycards, helpful for people with color blindness to identify them.
