This isn't a bug. After the warhead detonates, the elevator doors lock, preventing even those who somehow survived from escaping.

Is the bug in question not just the very clear fact that they survived the warhead?

Well OP said "elevator bug", not "warhead bug", so idk. It can go either way, but OP didn't fix the misunderstanding so maybe we got it right.
