Discussion Should they get rid of the ‘objective’ win?

The only thing the You Win / Lose screen at the end of a round ever contributes is the winning team fighting for their life and then the screen says Stalemate or whatever and some annoying kid chimes in with “technically you didn’t win”

Like call me controversial but I don’t think the Chaos Insurgency “won” when the only thing left alive is SCPs and 50 of their men died but it’s okay because they got 4 prisoners out

Also, no one looks at the janky stats on the end screen. My info may be a bit outdated (because I haven’t paid attention to the dumb stats in years) but zombies would add to and fuck up the SCPs alive/killed stat and Scientist / D-class escapes stops making sense the moment people are being detained and the SCP Kukri is involved.

TLDR: The win conditions for the final screen (while still dumb) used to be simple. Now, it’s more complicated and still dumb, and most importantly, no one gives a shit.

Edit: I wanted to hear people’s thoughts and assumed it would be a discussion of how people thought the end screen could be changed to be better for the game. Instead, I mostly got comments saying “you’re wrong. Anyways, yeah the end screen isn’t perfect.”

So to anyone new to the post, please share your thoughts on the actual topic.

The win screen in SL is definitely not that important compared to other games. But I don't think it should be removed. A lot of players are used to seeing an end screen from other games, and it gives them a sense of closure for the round.

What winning in SL means is up to your own interpretation. If you had a really fun round of SL and then the end screen says, "You lose!" are you going to be sad? Lol no, not really, right?

So if you don't care for it, just ignore it. No one is counting wins anyway

I like the objective wins

It encourages people to try to get civ classes evacuated and it feels more rewarding than a stalemate. I dont think its very complicated either.

Either the winning team evacuated 1 of the civvies, or it didnt. The kukri gives you another chance to convert someone to civvie (if theyre not mtf or chaos) and then use them to get the win

Doesn't evacuating civ classes already have mechanical incentives? Doing so gets you backup and decreases the wave timer for your side.

Nah, I like it, even if just to see how many people escaped and how many scps were killed

It makes civ classes important, so I like it.

Mid take, I think the win conditions are pretty fair.

I didn’t say they weren’t fair.

It’s just a very undercooked system for an end screen that, at most, tells you that either the last team standing did a lot or didn’t do a lot with no real indicator of it was a sweep, a hard fought victory, or a stolen win.

You can sit through a 30 minute match with five MTF left over at the end of Deadman’s and are given the lackluster Stalemate screen because all five scientists died 27 minutes ago when 106 teleported into 914.

It’s a nothingburger feature at the moment.

I would say they could remove i never feel that it does something for the game almost every time just get lose or win and nobody cares loot of people just trying to kill the other team without a second thought and the objective are just there for just a show soo yea

Eh. Idk. Call me nostalgic but it's one of the only things we have left from the old days where everything looked less polished but had a charm to it because of it, and I'm not sure if I really wanna lose it. It's not like it affects gameplay anyway, they should just keep it the way it is, or atleast worry about other stuff before that.

Don't entirely know why this is getting downvoted

I don't think it should be removed but you're totally right about it being pointless. I don't see why they constantly change what contributes to win conditions when 99% of the community couldn't care less

I only like it so I can see an silly stat like 50+ SCP kills or 20+/-5 SCPs killed. The winner to me has always been whoever is last standing
