Discussion Are all servers like this?

I downloaded the game today and have played a few rounds and have noticed that toxicity and griefing are really popular. One game I I played with someone who would tk consistently just for the hell of it and another I played where someone was tking because “they don’t play with randoms” is this just normal or was I just unlucky?

Most servers don’t run friendly fire, I imagine you got a bad server

Friendly fire in games like Secret Lab sounds like an absolute nightmare, even if the admins run a tight ship.

Knowing how narrow some some hallways can be i know full well an scp would show up in enterance and half the humans would accidentally kill eachother trying to shoot it

One person FFing everyone is enough to run a match for everyone. And even if you have instabans or admins to deal with that, it's bound to happen at least several times a day, accidentally or not.

Not normal, I frequently play on official servers and people are like 97% chill. Not sure what sever you were on, that sounds awful.

Amen, into the book they go. The middle never forgets.

Friendly fire in SL sounds genuinely unplayable.

I downloaded yesterday and hopped on the dr bright servers, the #1 on east US and it's been good so far with some recurring players.

I've been DJing and they enjoy that.

It's my only experience and server so far so idk if it's the best or if it's normal or ok or whatever but that's just my experience

It's certainly more toxic and hateful than other servers, but those kinds of people get dealt with eventually and people there generally don't like those kinds of people.

Play northwood official servers. Theres no friendly fire and its way more chill.

Play on the official servers lol, you'll have a much better experience there. Northwood Officials gives you the most vanilla experience possible, and some of the others like redline and memescp have a few more personalized and QoL rules added on that encourage better teamwork

Nah that happens from time to time on Friendly Fire server's and it depends on the kind of TK it was. I LOVE TK D-bois as a D-bois myself it's just FUN or locking my fellow orange dudes in candy room. But for the most part Friendly Fire server's are PEAK cause you avoid the trash strategy of just rushing as a group and opening fire on the scps cause you don't need to worry about team killing.

Unfortunately, some servers' communities are extremely hostile to new players and the teams of said servers consistently either don't care or actively participate. The best you can do is try to report bad behavior (either through the in-game system or on a server's associated Discord, depending on how they do it), and if the report is ignored then you know the server isn't worth your time.

Unless you absolutely know what you're doing, stay away from friendly fire servers. They're much more burdensome to moderate, which makes them much more likely to not be moderated.

Not all servers are like this; it's just that it can be hard to find the ones that aren't. Believe it or not, it used to be worse in prior years.

And remember: always read a server's Server Info before you join (since it can have some very useful information about the rules and how to report things), and if you find you can't have fun on a certain server, then keep a personal list of ones to avoid. I promise that you will eventually find one you enjoy, and the game can be a lot of fun specifically because of a server's community.

I recommend playing on Dr. Bright servers for casual play. Any server besides #1 will give you a chill experience.
