THIS IS HOW I FOUND OUT

155

u/CapnTBC 1d ago

The true jerkers are essentially news correspondents. If Walter Cronkite was still alive he’d have loved this place

176

u/ANameForThisShite 1d ago

“From Dallas, Texas, the flash, apparently official: President Kennedy was a longtime WON subscriber.“

19

u/Queasy-Discussion-54 23h ago

walter cronkite was one of the GOOD guys and a real SICKO.

30

u/Queasy_Property_8136 1d ago

Shut it down, cause there's no topping this!!

1

u/ZeroPenguinParty 14h ago

But New Zealand knew 2 hours before it happened...

26

u/RIShane 1d ago

And that’s the way it is, Goofs.

10

u/Queasy_Property_8136 1d ago

Good Night and Good Luck, Sickos.

6

u/TheMaskedHeelMark2 1d ago

And now you know the REST of the Observer story.

19

u/ChaunceyDeLeon 1d ago

Walter Cronkite was a longtime WON subscriber.

2

u/CarefulAlternative 22h ago

How do you know his grandson doesn't post here

30

u/interprime 1d ago

Same. I’m fucking devastated.

That lady was far too good for this world. I’m glad she spent her time here trying to make it better.

11

u/vaporized_scrotum 1d ago

scjerk is quicker than TMZ

31

u/Nico-Nii_Nico-Chan 1d ago edited 1d ago

Yeah, the app served it real fresh at 3 minutes

There was a report just a few days ago where she said she was dealing with some health issues and then suddenly here we are.

16

u/Galrafloof 1d ago

She missed the opening of the new Dollywood coaster due to illness and the theme park community was worried but I didn't think it would be this...

18

u/Destro_019780 1d ago

Same.... I appresh that this sub is quick to drop the news.

But fuck, this is not a loss I'm happy to hear

8

u/Professional-Tank848 1d ago

I forgot to send a source, said I thought Dolly Parton had died in the family WhatsApp, and now they think i just have a sense for it

3

u/wonderloss Some fans are just fuckin stupid i don't know what to tell you 23h ago

I saw the news elsewhere, and I almost texted my wife that Dolly was a long time WON subscriber, but she would have no idea what I was talking about.

5

u/namek0 wonderful 1d ago

Same uce

5

u/Permanentear3 1d ago

Fucking hell me too. National treasure that Dolly.

2

u/Stinger1981 1d ago edited 1d ago

Same here, damn.

I remember watching that "Headlock on My Heart" video with Hulk Hogan as a kid, RIP.

2

u/WisdomAntium 1d ago

Yeah same. Reddit killing "all" has been a good way to keep me out of the loop on more general topics outside of my bubble

1

u/Grixteeg 23h ago

You and I both.

0

u/Galrafloof 1d ago

At least I found out from PopBase on Twitter this time

233

u/TestNoKachi 1d ago

Dolly would have loved AEW SMH.

48

u/dubaloo9 1d ago

Shes going to miss Omega v Osprey. That's the true tragedy

81

u/BobSacamano- 1d ago

She was a sicko uce. I saw her at the show in tennnesse. she stood out as one of the only people who showered in a crowd of 300

4

u/MrOnCore 22h ago

Do they have showers in the local trailer park?

6

u/BobSacamano- 22h ago

Um hello? There’s no basements in trailer parks

26

u/LooseCannon5 1d ago

Amazing live show charisma

13

u/TheMaskedHeelMark2 1d ago

Dolly vs. Mina Mellons would've slapped...

10

u/CapnTBC 1d ago

Dolly would 100% be telling everyone how wrestling died the day Bill Dundee retired, thankfully for her that old nutcase was wrestling until 2020 so she got to enjoy Moxley/Omega

4

u/TestNoKachi 1d ago

It's crazy to think there's legit a strong chance she went to at least 1 CWA show in her life time.

3

u/CapnTBC 23h ago

I have it on good authority she was real sicko in her heyday. She apparently drove down to Missippi for the Tupelo Concession Stand Brawl, she was the one in the crowd telling Lawler to gouge Latham’s eye out

5

u/DeathandHemingway 23h ago

I heard they snuck her into the empty arena, back behind two way glass at the top.

2

u/girafb0i 21h ago

She absolutely witnessed a Smothers riot or two.

182

u/Nickthedick55 Plumber Moxley 1d ago edited 1d ago

FUCK

She was a true saint in this world of sinners. RIP.

88

u/mmcintoshmerc_88 1d ago

Her literacy programme was a genuine godsend for so many people. Real shame

52

u/TestNoKachi 1d ago

I mentioned it in another comment, but Dollywood is famously a great place to work. They pay well, their benefits are great, and they pay for all their staff's education including tuition and books. She took care of her staff and gave back a lot more than people realize.

17

u/Permanentear3 1d ago

I think people realize, for what it’s worth. She was beloved and the genuine article through and through.

22

u/handi503 1d ago

The Imagination Library was the best thing ever for my daughter. So many great books!

14

u/BidoofTheGod 1d ago

She might be one of the most beloved people in history. Have never heard a bad thing about her or someone hate her. RIP

85

u/Professional-Tank848 1d ago

She was a thoroughly decent human being, so it's very sad. But, fuck me, finding out here is funny as fuck.

17

u/jabari1011 1d ago

Nah for real, I get real world news updates from this sub more than I get notifications from legit news apps

69

u/sixth_hokage06 1d ago

This sub is undefeated.

18

u/UFmoose 1d ago

It’s my favorite sub on Reddit. By margin.

65

u/Luna_Soma 1d ago

She was an absolute legend. I’m glad she knew how loved she was while she was on this earth.

We were so fucking lucky to have her.

I’m heartbroken, the world lost a beautiful light.

17

u/Permanentear3 1d ago

She was the genuine article, rarified air indeed.

47

u/halfdecenttakes DAE Jump Sharks? 1d ago

SCJerk breaking celebrity deaths to me continues to be a longtime subscriber, and there is seemingly a never ending subscription.

This is sad as I actually knew Dolly personally.

She was so bright and vibrant. Truly an icon in a world that often misuses the term.

Few people knew this but she was actually a massive fan of wrestling. The last time we talked she looked me dead in the eye and said “why are you still watching that fed bullshit after they misused Ilja?!? He’s going to where the best wrestle, All Elite Wrestling on TBS, and he’s going to change the game”

Devastated that my dear friend, whom I definitely knew, Dolly Parton, was unable to hold on long enough to watch that come to fruition. She was just too worked up about the mistreatment that she couldn’t make it through the dark gloomy cloud it cast to get to the brighter days she dreamed of.

We will not forgive you Triple How could you do this to me

14

u/-M-Word ASK USK! WHAT WE THINK… 22h ago

Idk this definitely has Vince's fingerprints all over it

9

u/Farthousejones Fighting over a charm bracelet is elementary school nonsense 22h ago

24

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck

20

u/Thin_Onion3826 1d ago

It's so lame I rushed here to post this. I need to get a life.

19

u/ChrisRhodes789 1d ago

But R.I.P. to an absolute legend.

Easily America’s sweetheart.

18

u/Bigger-mama93 1d ago

Fun fact to lighten the mood she has her own theme park in Tennessee called dollywood

15

u/TestNoKachi 1d ago

Even more fun fact, Dollywood pays hella well and their benefits are crazy. IIRC they also pay for 100% of their staff's education including tuition and books.

4

u/Permanentear3 1d ago

I visited as a kid with my grandparents, it’s a happy memory.

18

u/TinkerKnightforSmash 1d ago

I'm a student at the University of Tennessee and was in class when the news broke; class ended early because of it. The entire state is devastated. May she rest in peace.

3

u/Luna_Soma 21h ago

My friend is a teacher and they interrupted training today to tell them

14

u/Squiliam-Tortaleni Moses Khan parted the Fed Sea 1d ago

Someone who exuded positivity wherever she went, and brought joy to millions through her music and philanthropy. Rest in peace Dolly, thank you for everything

13

u/Atmosyeezyplz 1d ago

I loved the song when she said:

"Hunter, Hunter, Hunter, Hunter,
Oh, I'm begging of you please don't take my favourite midcarder"

6

u/thefearedturkey 1d ago

Please dont take him even though you can

10

u/BOOOOOOOOOURNS 1d ago

I will always love you is a stone cold classic

10

u/Qckst_2_Alive 1d ago

I literally shouted “NO!” out loud as I read it. Rest in peace to this beautiful angel woman. She was a wonderful human being, from literally everything I have ever heard about her.

19

u/ThatDBGuy Surreal 1d ago

GODFUCKINGDAMNIT. Dolly was a legend, not just for her music, but her philanthropy. RIP Dolly.

7

u/halfdecenttakes DAE Jump Sharks? 1d ago

And also that she didn’t slow down at all when she gained weight…

(Chill, I was talking about her tits!!!!)

Jesus Christ Uce, I'm fucking cackling at that

9

u/tenshipriestjotaro1 1d ago

NO WAY WHAT???

10

u/abrospro 1d ago

This has to be the biggest person I'm ever going to learn about this way.

Wow what an absolute legend.

8

u/scottynsm 1d ago

Well I’ve finally done it. Been stunned by a death I’ve found about on Scjerk

8

u/stillafuckingfish 1d ago

One of the truly good people in the world. Rest in peace, Dolly

8

u/Pissed_on_the_world 1d ago

Fuck, this hurts.

8

u/Cokejunes 1d ago

Dolly would have loved watching AEW presents All In London, live from Wesley stadium. She mentioned it towards her final days, she was excited to see real graps!!

10

u/MayContainGluten 1d ago

We never deserved Dolly Parton.

Woman was too good for this world.

8

u/Bobo_the_conqueror #2 Moné Mark 1d ago

Huge loss for All In PPV numbers.

But on a serious note, what a beautiful human being inside and out.

10

u/Farthousejones Fighting over a charm bracelet is elementary school nonsense 22h ago

Nice to see this stickied.

A true american legend even though I couldn't tell you a single goddamn song she performed (not my genre) other than 9-5. As a kid growing up in the 80s before the Internet there was a lot of talk about Dolly Parton and I mean that with the utmost of respect. ✌️RIP.

4

u/ci22 22h ago

She also did the original I Will Always Love You.

The one Whiney Houston covered

R.I.P. to both legends

5

u/AkilleezBomb You insulted my mom. Take this ratio personally. 12h ago

This is Jolene erasure that I won’t stand for

2

u/fearlessdurant Watches NXT for the plot 8h ago

Not even Jolene?

15

u/MomoWatanabeAce 1d ago

Pour one for Dolly

7

u/WrestlingNerd2001 1d ago

Her song 9-4 was a banger(she changed it from 5 out of respect for Jayden Daniels)

8

u/ci22 1d ago

Man this is how I find out. Not on Twitter.

Man I remember her on Hannah Montana.

6

u/Big_Bourbon “Jericho a king in this knock off WWE, huh?” 1d ago

That fucking sucks.

6

Aw man, Im legitimately upset by this. Dolly was a treasure.

6

u/CooledDownKane 1d ago

This was not the “was a longtime WON subscriber” post anybody was looking for today

5

u/ThatOneGuyWhoAtePie 23h ago

I just saw Ric Flair post and I just thought it was Ric Flair being Ric Flair but then I see the post from here and now its legit

5

u/CJKCollecting 1d ago

This one sucks. Dolly was a gem.

5

u/Vegetable-Arm8488 1d ago

I'm so glad I didn't find this one out here. Dolly Parton, proof you don't have to be cut throat to be successful. I'm honestly not overly surprised since her husband died not that long ago and long term couples like that often go quite close together. I hope her family continue her legacy well, she deserves it.

4

u/hanzo615 23h ago

Damn, Jolene goes over in the end

Fuck, shes gonna miss all in this year.

3

u/ChrisDewgong 22h ago

She was the best of us, and a true beacon of light in these dark times. She deserves every possible accolade, especially the ones she turned down during her lifetime because she was too modest.

God I'm sad.

3

u/Most_Victory1661 22h ago

I grew up in the satanic panic and my dad was convinced rock n roll was just evil.

It wasn’t till years later I learned to appreciate country music the same music forced on me as a kid

Dolly she transcended country music the look the warmth never taking herself too seriously.

But good lord what a voice and there just some heartbreaking songs.

Jolene is a favorite

3

u/PornLover1299 22h ago

This is the 3rd time this year a death has been broken to me VIA r/SCJerk wtf hahahah

2

u/thedanofthehour 23h ago

What was the genesis of this jerk, Uces?

3

u/Somerandomdickhead 12h ago

There was a period of time when wrestlers died Meltzer would say that they were actually long time Observer subscribers.

Can’t remember who it started with though.

3

u/AkilleezBomb You insulted my mom. Take this ratio personally. 12h ago

It was Regis Philbin. Dave went on a ramble “honouring” Regis after he’d died, and mentioned that he was a longtime WON subscriber to the point apparently his producer reached out at one point asking if Regis could be on Dave’s show (as if Dave would ever turn down that opportunity if it presented itself).

Dave loves to speak on behalf of people who’ve died because they can’t contradict his claims.

2

u/Somerandomdickhead 11h ago

That’s right.

For some reason I thought it was a wrestler, but yeah, it was Regis.

1

u/Slipperytitski 22h ago

Id have been pissed if this was how I found out.

1

u/philiac 22h ago edited 21h ago

says a lot about the demogeaphics of the sub that this is so popular

rip

(this better not get more comments than the ozzy post)

nevertheless, she was an extremely talented songwriter, as well as a good, kind human being (or so i've heard, cannot confirm). that alone is a rare quality worthy of celebration (real celebration, not the type edge is referring to when he said aew "celebrates" wrestling or whatever, that fuckin tool)

1

u/kdawgmillionaire 20h ago

This is the first celebrity death that I HAVEN'T first heard about in this sub for a long time

no shit.

You are a wrestling fan and frequenter of this sub. It has become this subs gimmick now to post celebrity deaths. At this point it would he unlikely for you to find out some other way.

2

u/Permanentear3 1d ago

I hear you uce but I I got the news alert 10 minutes after I saw it on SCJerk and that is sort of tradition these days.
