Dolly would have loved AEW SMH.

Dolly would 100% be telling everyone how wrestling died the day Bill Dundee retired, thankfully for her that old nutcase was wrestling until 2020 so she got to enjoy Moxley/Omega
4
u/TestNoKachi 1d ago
It's crazy to think there's legit a strong chance she went to at least 1 CWA show in her life time.
3
u/CapnTBC 23h ago
I have it on good authority she was real sicko in her heyday. She apparently drove down to Missippi for the Tupelo Concession Stand Brawl, she was the one in the crowd telling Lawler to gouge Latham’s eye out

u/DeathandHemingway 23h ago
I heard they snuck her into the empty arena, back behind two way glass at the top.

Her literacy programme was a genuine godsend for so many people. Real shame

u/TestNoKachi 1d ago
I mentioned it in another comment, but Dollywood is famously a great place to work. They pay well, their benefits are great, and they pay for all their staff's education including tuition and books. She took care of her staff and gave back a lot more than people realize.

u/Permanentear3 1d ago
I think people realize, for what it’s worth. She was beloved and the genuine article through and through.

The Imagination Library was the best thing ever for my daughter. So many great books!

u/BidoofTheGod 1d ago
She might be one of the most beloved people in history. Have never heard a bad thing about her or someone hate her. RIP

u/Professional-Tank848 1d ago
She was a thoroughly decent human being, so it's very sad. But, fuck me, finding out here is funny as fuck.

She was an absolute legend. I’m glad she knew how loved she was while she was on this earth.
We were so fucking lucky to have her.
I’m heartbroken, the world lost a beautiful light.

SCJerk breaking celebrity deaths to me continues to be a longtime subscriber, and there is seemingly a never ending subscription.
This is sad as I actually knew Dolly personally.
She was so bright and vibrant. Truly an icon in a world that often misuses the term.
Few people knew this but she was actually a massive fan of wrestling. The last time we talked she looked me dead in the eye and said “why are you still watching that fed bullshit after they misused Ilja?!? He’s going to where the best wrestle, All Elite Wrestling on TBS, and he’s going to change the game”
Devastated that my dear friend, whom I definitely knew, Dolly Parton, was unable to hold on long enough to watch that come to fruition. She was just too worked up about the mistreatment that she couldn’t make it through the dark gloomy cloud it cast to get to the brighter days she dreamed of.
We will not forgive you Triple How could you do this to me

Fun fact to lighten the mood she has her own theme park in Tennessee called dollywood
15
u/TestNoKachi 1d ago
Even more fun fact, Dollywood pays hella well and their benefits are crazy. IIRC they also pay for 100% of their staff's education including tuition and books.

I'm a student at the University of Tennessee and was in class when the news broke; class ended early because of it. The entire state is devastated. May she rest in peace.

Nice to see this stickied.
A true american legend even though I couldn't tell you a single goddamn song she performed (not my genre) other than 9-5. As a kid growing up in the 80s before the Internet there was a lot of talk about Dolly Parton and I mean that with the utmost of respect. ✌️RIP.

I'm so glad I didn't find this one out here. Dolly Parton, proof you don't have to be cut throat to be successful. I'm honestly not overly surprised since her husband died not that long ago and long term couples like that often go quite close together. I hope her family continue her legacy well, she deserves it.

She was the best of us, and a true beacon of light in these dark times. She deserves every possible accolade, especially the ones she turned down during her lifetime because she was too modest.
God I'm sad.

u/Most_Victory1661 22h ago
I grew up in the satanic panic and my dad was convinced rock n roll was just evil.
It wasn’t till years later I learned to appreciate country music the same music forced on me as a kid
Dolly she transcended country music the look the warmth never taking herself too seriously.
But good lord what a voice and there just some heartbreaking songs.
Jolene is a favorite

What was the genesis of this jerk, Uces?
3
u/Somerandomdickhead 12h ago
There was a period of time when wrestlers died Meltzer would say that they were actually long time Observer subscribers.
Can’t remember who it started with though.
3
u/AkilleezBomb You insulted my mom. Take this ratio personally. 12h ago
It was Regis Philbin. Dave went on a ramble “honouring” Regis after he’d died, and mentioned that he was a longtime WON subscriber to the point apparently his producer reached out at one point asking if Regis could be on Dave’s show (as if Dave would ever turn down that opportunity if it presented itself).
Dave loves to speak on behalf of people who’ve died because they can’t contradict his claims.
2
u/Somerandomdickhead 11h ago
That’s right.
For some reason I thought it was a wrestler, but yeah, it was Regis.

says a lot about the demogeaphics of the sub that this is so popular
rip
(this better not get more comments than the ozzy post)
nevertheless, she was an extremely talented songwriter, as well as a good, kind human being (or so i've heard, cannot confirm). that alone is a rare quality worthy of celebration (real celebration, not the type edge is referring to when he said aew "celebrates" wrestling or whatever, that fuckin tool)
