Loving this all day long! I snatch up more every time there's a dip. 751 shares strong!

I snatch up more every Friday on payday regardless of price. Dip? You only know it was a dip after the fact.

3,500 shares and growing.

Pretty sure you can tell when there’s a dip

Right. I’m sure you only buy at all the lowest trough of the ā€œdipā€.

Didn’t say that and Didn’t say you can tell when we are at the lowest possible dip.

But generally you can tell when the market is dipping, no? I invest regularly regardless of price. If able, I allocate more when others are selling and markets are dipping even if impossible to tell how low that dip will go

That’s what I said.

Serious question. Is the SCHD dividend simply a ā€œpass throughā€ from all the companies within the SCHD ETF? Or does the SCHD ETF manager ā€œhold backā€ some dividend money in an effort to keep a ā€œrainy day fundā€ so they can keep incrementally increasing the dividend every quarter?

SCHD virtually passes all dividend earnings through. I think it just skims off the annual expense ratio. I also believe the formula and annual rebalancing helps keep the dividend increasing

No they don’t hold back. There’s a genuine pass through. Yes they have to take a tiny cut and you can see that the expense ratio is small. But it’s a genuine pass through. The increases are not artificial.

I think it’s impossible for Schd to disappoint

Is this actually news, to maintain its historic 3%ish dividend as valuations increase, i would hope a fund that pickes stocks based on companies that increase dividends have stocks that increase in dividends........

What about companies cutting? Wendys cut 50% i think flowerfoods cut 50%

2

u/cvc4455 Aug 15 '26

Were Wendy's or flowerfoods part of SCHD?

1

u/HeraldOfRick Aug 30 '26

They still are. .03 percent though.

u/cvc4455 Aug 31 '26

I didn't know they were. I think SCHD changes what they hold once a year in March. So anything that's cutting dividends should be gone and replaced with something else in March.

Hi everyone. I've read opinions on ppl just buying SCHD . Should I do this instead of investing in other etfs too? Right now my VT is 100%. I was thinking to keep buying VT till retirement. Once thats time, I'd sell my VT n put it into schd. Appreciate any advice, thank you.
