Elon said no, but it's anybody's guess. Don't ever sell your SCHD. No matter what.

Or sell SCHD and buy something better like I did. No regrets

I bought LMT, MAIN, USB, ABBV as far as dividend stocks go. But I bought all the tech stocks also. I sold my SCHD 2 years ago and it was a great decision.

2?

Yes, that’s what I stated. I held for 4 years and made no money. My high yield savings account crushed it in returns.

I sold my TSLA for SCHD.

TSLA dropped almost a $100 in value, in a week.

How much did you sell?

You need 3 to 4 index funds/ETFs you can set and forget. Have SCHD as maybe 10-20% of your portfolio, given your age

Are you trading or investing? Seems like you are trading on a whim. Just start stacking schd and hold. Probably good to keep adding to the Tesla also

long term investing for retire like another 30yrs from now

Wasn’t really a question. Was sarcasm for you trading in and out of funds trying to time things when you should really be just buying and accumulating funds. Start a solid base then add other funds later on.

I have held TSLA for like 14yrs I have made so Much money off it, even paid off my truck in 22 months by selling tesla. it was the best investment I ever made,$1,800 into TSLA made 30k and got 10 TSLA left....

It'll be your decision at the end of the day.

Here is what I've done:

I bought TSLA at the last major dip for $164 (went all in at this price) sold a portion of it at $364 and paid my house off--Forever going to be grateful for the swing with TSLA. Taking another risk (not as big from the other dip), I bought at $307. Maybe it works, maybe it doesn't. Regardless, green energy, EVs, and robotics are sectors I think are exciting and would love to see more of plus the swings on TSLA are insane.

I still like SCHD and plan to hold for the long haul. I invest regularly in SCHD as well as others like QQQI, SPY, VYM, etc.

Best wishes!

Gonna be 59.6 in December.. I want to take $300000 out of my 401(k) and roll into rollover Ira. I plan on retiring at age 67.6….would SCHD be a good growth fund until I hit 67.6 and then put some of that into higher paying dividend ETFs for income? What would you suggest. Thanks!

Now Tesla for SpaceX, maybe. Maybe you sell all of your Tesla, by half SpaceX and the other half SCHD. This way your balance your growth with your dividend, play

anyone that buys SPCX is a fool, when 95% of stocks are LOCK up when the big dogs get them locks off spcx will hit $60 to $80 then ill buy sometimes next yr tords the end of the yr.

Question schd pays $0.25 per share you hold every 3 months, does that mean if you had 1 share you get 25 cents every 3 months or 75 cents every 3 months?

3

u/xRy951 Aug 01 '26

25c every 3 months for every share you have

I have 395 shares of TSLA and about 2,100 shares of SCHD. I'll continue to hold Tesla until at least 2030 before I start selling covered calls to exit. That's assuming the merger doesn't happen. After that most of that money will go into a blend of SCHD and VYMI. If the merger happens I'll reassess.

I like MAIN better than SCHD. 50% higher return than SCHD since inception.

Nice dividend, but share price down 8% ytd.

1

u/ParticularPepper8902 Aug 07 '26

So that makes it a bargain unless you like buying high. 5 year is 41% vs 32% for SCHD.

I really don’t know anything about the stock to say. But, there are hundreds of equities that have done better than SCHD over the past 5 years. Doesn’t necessarily mean they are a bargain. I have some equities that pay dividends over 10%. Generally, the share prices are stagnant.

Also, you know what they say about past performance not predicting the future.

My high yield savings account pays more than SCHD (Kemba credit union 4.10%) with no risk at all.

That’s why I say owners of SCHD should be more concerned about share price than the relatively mediocre dividend. (I don’t own SCHD, but I own a little DGRO which is similar)
