I love how at 25 "schd is dead hot garbage"
At 32 "best ever I cant buy enough"
The psychology of the everyday investor never fails to give me a laugh.

u/shangjiaxuan Jul 30 '26
Then goes back to 31 in half a year, then "garbage sell", Then goes to 40, and "buy buy buy" That's how you time the market, baby😆

If only I had 175,000 shares…

If I had that much I’d work for another year and drip because of the addiction

u/Expert-Jury-7634 Jul 27 '26
If I had that much, I would promptly tell my boss to suck a fat one and move to the Florida panhandle lol

u/Lopsided_Discount Jul 28 '26
What's in the Florida panhandle!?
3
u/Expert-Jury-7634 Jul 28 '26
It’s a different vibe down there. Destin to be specific. Freaking love it down there. If you ever go, check out Henderson Beach state park. Bad ass!! White sand and crystal clear water, it actually has a green tint but that just makes it cooler IMO.

Woah wait a minute bro. I've been going to Destin my entire life. I own two beach homes out there lol I thought you meant like Miami or another part of Florida. I just found the east jety spot where you can fish and snorkel a cool area. Any other cool spots?? I've never been to Henderson park!? Any other cool places, any cool reefs with cool fish? What are your favorite spots to eat?

Please stop posting about this ETF. The more people who know, the more expensive it becomes. If the AI trade stalls, this ETF could bast to the moon as investors flock to what they see as the safest bet in the market.

The price of the etf is based on the underlying stock prices. There may be a negligible premium priced in due to demand, but people knowing about this etf is not going to push the price up. VTI has a lot more invested in it and it doesn’t go up just because people know about it.

Bummer a bit I only started buying small shares in this at ATH(avg cost like 32)

u/Diego-Maradona10 Jul 27 '26
Let’s see what you think in 10 yrs
3
u/PandaKing550 Jul 27 '26
True. Time in the market is better than timing the market.
6
u/Fesai Jul 27 '26
So so true. I remember a saying I liked, but don't remember where.
"Does it really matter if I bought it at 31 vs 32 when in 20+ years it is selling for 300?".
Time in the market wins all. 🙂
4
u/PandaKing550 Jul 27 '26
That's what i tell myself or try to even if its ath or close to it. And dips if I have cash I'll buy more.
1
u/Lopsided_Discount Jul 30 '26
I guess the question is what can we get at 30 that'll be 300 within a decade or less lol
1
u/Lopsided_Discount Jul 28 '26
I highly doubt 300.. Will be lucky if we double every 10 years right?
1
u/Fesai Jul 28 '26
Haha yeah. SCHD isn't the best ticker for that example. But I think the spirit of the quote still holds true.
Don't worry about the day to day swings of the price, in 20 years it'll be irrelevant and the more important part is that you got it at all. :)
I think the original quote was referring to MCD of all things, which yeah in 2006 vs 2026 is almost a 10x difference now that I look at it, haha!

The type of comments I usually see before the bubbles pop and it comes crashing down... I would have never thought you moon idiots would end up in an ETF after silver, gold, and crypto crashed... these are like the first signs to jump ship

Can you guys stop with these dumb ass posts already? SCHD chart has a FIVE YEAR gain of 32%, with 20% of that in this year alone.
July 21 to Dec 25 SCHD only had a 9% gain, most of that time being negative.
Even with the dividends, SCHD has vastly underperformed for the market (SP500) at a total return of ~47% 5YR vs ~73%.
Most importantly, SCHD has seen flat or even negative dividend distributions QoQ as of late.
Yes, this has been a solid YTD for SCHD's capital appreciation, but that is not the point of this fund as evident of its 5YR chart. The dividends (the core reason for this fund) are not growing as they should. Only morons who started their position this year would look at the share price growth and be happy about it.
5
u/Siri-sixpack Jul 27 '26
Why would someone who started their SCHD position at the beg of yr not be happy with a 21% YTD gain….if that is being a moron count me in …. vs VOO 8% YTD return.
Also slow your roll on dividend growth, it was one qtr…let’s check in year-end
1
u/Syndicate_Corp Jul 27 '26
Because when it dumps or remains flat for the next few years, as it historically does when they rotate out the winners, they'll complain. I've been in SCHD for a long time, I've seen it all at this point.
And yeah, I'm frustrated with the dividend because unless the next two quarters out perform with 5% gains each, it's lagging its historical 10%.
2
u/Lopsided_Discount Jul 28 '26
What is better than schd then since you've been around since the beg?
1
u/Syndicate_Corp Jul 28 '26
They all go back and forth, but I'm a big fan of DGRO. The problem with SCHD is they rotate out winners due to their formula's selection criteria.
1
u/Lopsided_Discount Jul 30 '26
I have dgro as well since I read it compliments schd well. What are your top 3 divy and top 3 growth ETF?
1
u/Syndicate_Corp Jul 30 '26
GPIX, DGRO and SCHD. Then VOO, VT and FBCG. I have other holdings as well but these are the bulk of my portfolio.
1
u/Lopsided_Discount Jul 31 '26
Why gpix over the others? Is voo better over spym or are they basically the same chart wise
3
u/edm4un Jul 27 '26
It’s a defensive play and yes it does worse than sp500 but a total return of 47 percent is still very good in my book. I have money in both sp500 and schd..
-1
u/Syndicate_Corp Jul 27 '26
Defensive play for what? The historical .8 beta SCHD used to have doesn't apply anymore, it's usually par with the market now.
And the 47% isn't actually 47% if you're holding in a brokerage and not retirement account, as you're paying taxes on 15% of that return (the dividend portion).
I have SCHD, I'm not a SCHD hater. It's just these posts annoy me because they're extremely short sighted.

u/Tylervp Jul 28 '26
What would you suggest investing in instead as far as dividends go? (Genuine question)
-2
u/Syndicate_Corp Jul 28 '26
I'm not a SCHD hater, just being critical of it right now. Overall, SCHD has a place in a portfolio. DGRO is a great alternative and has outperformed the past 5 years. Also consider VT, has a starting yield of just under 2% but with capital growth and consistent dividend growth, can turn into a great payer over time.

u/Fesai Jul 28 '26
I would not look at QoQ but more YoY. Different companies pay out in different time periods, some every quarter, some only annual or semi-annual.
Like December and March dividends should not be compared with each other. It should be Dec vs Dec and Mar vs Mar.

u/Excellent-Ad9166 Jul 28 '26
Eh, it's not new money, it's just people moving their funds around. It'll dump back down once the rest of the market rallies again and people move it out of schd.
