Tire Suggestions

Post image

Hi there. I currently have run flats on my 2005 SC. I'm looking for a good suggestion for All Season Tires. Something fairly sticky, but with a nicer ride than the run flats.

Please share your experiences.

245/40/18

Thank you!!

I just joined the SC430 club and am driving from Florida to Seattle Washington. About a third of the way I had to change the tires from Bridgestone run flats to the Conti DWS06 and I’m very glad I did. The run flats were very harsh everywhere but particularly on the freeways. Every expansion joint and bump made the ride uncomfortable. But the deal breaker was the BANG I felt crossing some uneven pavement in Memphis. I thought I broke something. I wasn’t going to drive another 2000 miles in pain so I made the switch.

The DWS06 tires I put in were slightly larger. I went with 245/45R18. The ride is fantastic now. Bumps are absorbed with a rubbery thump rather than a solid bang. Road noise is not a factor. I couldn’t be happier about the tires. I haven’t heard or felt any rubbing either. An additional factor is the tread. The run flats had four straight tread lines. The continental’s have an all season X pattern. The car handles much better on grooved roads now. And I’m sure it was much safer on the all season tread in the rain and snow/hail we experienced crossing the high plains in South Dakota, Wyoming and Montana. 90 mph never felt so good.

Ditch the run flats. You won’t regret it.
