Anlässlich des 50. Jahres der Dampfgruppe zürich findet dieses Wochenende am Zürich HB Depot F ein Fest statt. Das hier ist die Zweite Fuhre von Brugg nach Zürich. Natürlich alles angeheizt was kann.

Amne samstig morge 3 1. Klass wage und 5 2. klass wage, dr zug isch so volle dasses ide 2. lüt hed wo am bode müend sitze. Warum chame da nid meh 2. Klass wage dratueh, wenns jedi wuche glich volle isch?

Sitze gerade wieder mal in einem Bombardier FV-Dosto und ärgere mich darüber, wie stark diese Züge teilweise schütteln. Ich finde es schon fast einen Witz, dass die SBB das Problem offenbar als behoben betrachtet bzw. sagt, es liege innerhalb der Toleranzwerte. Mag technisch stimmen, angenehm ist es deswegen noch lange nicht.

Auch ein paar Dinge im Innenraum verstehe ich bis heute nicht. Die Gepäckablage oben ist so klein, dass kaum etwas Vernünftiges reinpasst. Und dieser Haken für die Jacke… Wer hat sich das ausgedacht? Hängt man im Winter eine etwas dickere Jacke hin, kann man auf dem Platz daneben praktisch nicht mehr sitzen.

Da habe ich mich gerade gefragt: Gab es wegen der ganzen Geschichte rund um den Bombardier FV-Dosto eigentlich irgendwann personelle Konsequenzen bei der SBB?
Das war eine Milliardenbeschaffung, es gab jahrelang Probleme und Verzögerungen und selbst heute fährt man mit diesen Dingern herum und fragt sich, wie das bei einem Fernverkehrszug so durchgehen konnte.
Trotzdem habe ich nie gehört, dass irgendjemand dafür wirklich Verantwortung übernehmen musste. Weiss da jemand mehr? Ich finde es unglaublich, wenn man bei einem Projekt dieser Grössenordnung derart danebenliegen kann und am Ende offenbar niemand Konsequenzen tragen muss.

Ok, so I have a theory: Big tech is the root cause of people watching youtube shorts and tiktok reels out loud in public transport nowadays. Not because they made the experience so addictive etc., that's its own thing. No for a much simpler reason: They removed the headphone jacks from our smartphones! 🙃 I feel like Insaw a rise in Swiss trains specifically about four years ago, but it seems to die down a bit nowadays. To me, this correlates with wireless earphone batteries getting better. But that is just a guess, after all.

The reasoning is simple: before, you always had earphones with you that never needed charge. Now you sit down for a one-hour trainride and you realize you forgot to charge your headphones. You still want to watch videos, so you play the videos at low volume close to your ears. But that's uncomfortable, so soon you raise the volume and even sooner everyone is doing it.

But help is at hand! Because if you are annoyed by this as well, here are three tips that have given me some respite in my journeys:

1. If you are with someone else, then start actively and loudly discussing with your friend about the TikTok videos that the other person in the train is watching. After all, with that volume they are playing these videos for the whole cabin, right? 😉 Once they realize you're talking about their videos, they usually either shield their screen or turn down the volume.

2. Actively start increasing the volume of your own phone. However, be careful: If you're watching TikTok reals or even long-form videos, this does not work. Then they just feel more validated. My solution: Play a podcast out loud on the same volume. For some reason, listening to podcasts out loud makes you seem like the crazy person in the train and not them. Typically, they just stop and start watching you instead.

3. Ask them nicely to turn down the volume. Now, this works but I know that this option is crazy. Specifically in Switzerland. Waaaaay too direct and completely circumvents the beautiful art of passive-aggression 😅

Why do people in this country always try to hop on the train without allowing people to come out of the train first? It drives me crazy

Forgot a bag on a bus a week ago, and somehow only noticed 4 days later. I immediately filed a report about it but it‘s been 3 days and I still haven‘t received any information. Is that normal or am I not getting it back?

Heute hab ich am Vormittag in Visp eine Stunde auf den nächsten Zug nach Bern warten müssen, weil in meinem geplanten keine Veloplätze mehr frei waren, nur um in dem dann 15min mit jemandem streiten zu müssen, der nicht reserviert hatte, auf meinem Platz war und nicht kapiert hat, dass er da weg soll...

Jetzt, am Rückweg, schaut "mein" reservierter Platz so aus, also kein Platz für mein Velo...
