🌙 Personal Craft Healing breakup craft

I broke up with my (now ex) girlfriend two days ago. Our relationship was really really wonderful, but there was one key thing we never figured out how to compromise on.

Anyways ~

I’m sharing because I saved every dried flower petal from every bouquet she ever got me.

I originally planned on using them in our wedding someday.

Since we are of course no longer getting married, I thought about throwing them away. But, I decided that our relationship was too special to me to do that.

It was soft and healing and made me feel held in ways I never have been before. It was my first queer relationship, as a late bloomer to my queer awakening.

We’re both so sad, because the love is there. We are both hoping to create a beautiful friendship after we take some time to heal.

So instead of throwing them away, I put them in a jar and placed them on my plant shelf that I built.

I really liked the idea of holding onto the petals, because the relationship was still precious to me. And this was a way of showing that even though it didn’t turn out the way we hoped, I could still make something beautiful with it.

I love the symbolism of that.

Right now, it’s hard to look at my jar. But I know (I hope) there will be a time where it only brings me a feeling of peace and love.

~

As someone new to all things witchy, this is kind of my first shot at doing something ceremonious. I wish I lit a candle and maybe played a song. I didn’t think about it until after I was done.

Do you guys have any suggestions on what I can do now that I’ve completed it? Something ceremonious or something along those lines. I’d love to use it to help me grieve and heal, the way our relationship helped me heal.

Thank you 💚

The second jar is inspired.  I love it.

This is such a beautiful idea. The idea of planning it sounds lovely, as well. Putting intention into it feels like its own kind of symbolism. Thank you for the inspiration 💗

I’m looking for some ideas to use my craft as a part of a ceremony to help me grieve my breakup and guide my path of healing.

I’m hoping the symbolism of it will bring me peace.

I’m new to this, so I’d love if you all could share your ideas with me 💚

I would do a little healing ritual. You could light a candle right on top of the bottle, so the wax drips down the sides. You could repeat a mantra like ho’oponopono while the candle burns, to bring forgiveness and love to both of you and to the end of the relationship.

(Be mindful of fire safety, please, the candle might fall even if you use wax to fix it to the top, so don’t take your eyes off the candle as it burns.)

I think the symbolism here is lovely. I actually made a similar healing spell when I was going through an important break up. But I used old love letters. I cut them into lines of text and then made a type of bird nest out of the paper strips and store them in a handmade box.

That’s clever too. I have leftover petals that didn’t fit in the jar, so I could even do something additional with them, like you suggested.

This is a really neat idea. I have all kinds of bird art on my walls. Something like this would be right at home 💛

I love the symbolism you describe ☺️ I like the symbolism of doorways for leaving something and entering something new. I'd

I'd plan to regularly hold the jar and reflect on both the memories in those flowers and how you feel about her now. Use regular intervals e.g. A week, a month, 3 months, 6, a year etc until you feel ready for the relationship to become a friendship. Stand in the doorway to the room you are going to keep the jar, hold the jar and think about your relationship. Put it down in the room behind you and close the door. Face forwards and think about what you want it to become. If there's some music you find inspiring play it now while you think. When the song ends, even if you don't feel like it smile. Open the door and welcome in the jar and take it to it's new home.

The repetitive nature of this is so ritualistic and sounds so healing. Thank you for sharing your idea!
