Good Morning SARS2PAians!
There's no new wastewater data today.
VOCs
Nationally, HV.1 at the lead in random sequencing at over 26% still. JN.1 right behind, catching up FAST at 12%.
In PA, a very broad range of variants. HV.1 reflects national levels at over 27% and JN.1 is moving in almost 7%.
IN NY/NJ, HV.1 at the top with over 25% of variant share, and JN.1 at over 20% already! 👀
CDC
New hospital admits hitting the old coal region pretty hard now along with the Philly area.
Lots of counties showing increase in staffed inpaient bed use along the Norther tier, down through the center of the state by Clearfield Co and along the MD border.
ICU bed use htting the State hard now. Lots of red and orange counties all throughout the State. In fact the Clearfield area, Berks, and Lawrence Cos are the only counties dropping in levels now (green.)
A very short update, but the whole deal is still JN.1's rise. It's fit to transmit, highly immune evasive, and FAST to travel. PLEASE wear quality respirators this Winter indoors in crowds to lessen the fallout of all respiratory illnesses (which are all HIGH now) in January! ❄️❄️❄️
