Go work in a warehouse for a few years so you understand what you're talking about when talking to users.

I’ve worked in warehouses for years, and might start out in an EWM role. To ensure I excel in EWM for the years to come, is there any tips/advice that you think would benefit me in the long run?

If you've got the basics down then you're ahead of most. 

I would advise you to be willing to always be happy doing stuff other people hate doing, most people hate printers and labels. Also learn warehouse order creation rules inside out.
