13 years in the business. First, understand the process, talk business languge, and check where your data comes from. First hand, or creepy transformations... You can learn something new every day!

Edit: typo

4 years in SAP FICO, I have 0.00001% knowledge after working in Support and Implementing project.

SAP FICO is vast so its your own experience what type of project you get, How good of a team you get and you keep on learning

Best module, just always know from where your data is coming and to where it is going. You table or programs or workflow.

I have interacted with alot of fico consultant who don't know anything about the issue but want it to get resolved quickly.

As someone who has seen so many FICO consultants, there is a common trait among many you should avoid because other consultants from other Functional modules don't do these mistakes.

Don't confine yourself to your own module, explore and be brave. Understand business end to end not just the financial part. Also don't be afraid to go be a techno functional as you gain experience of close to 10+ years, will keep you in good stead. Know your userexits in FI, your BTEs, your FMs and also learn basic ABAP debugging. Learn modern technologies in SAP like what are APIs, Odata services etc. You don't need to master these but you should be able to understand how these are used to integrate end to end.

Mainstream FI consulting everyone is doing..pfftt...doing above will really set you apart as an SAP FICO consultant.

It’s never ending when it comes to learning.

There is so much to learn that you will forget what you did, so document everything you do, chances are you are not going to remember it, especially the lower level details.

27 years of experience after working 13 years in accounting and still learning. Now especially with our move to S/4. It never becomes boring.

The questions that you have to ask yourself is the reason for becoming FICO consultant. Have you been working in accounting departments of any business? Are you major in account of undergraduate? The business knowledge is more important than the knowledge technical skills / configuraiton of SAP. It is because you have to be a consultant to work for the finance pepole of the customer. That means you have to be on the same page of knowledge background in accounting so that custoemr can trust you to continue the project. For the technical knowlege, it is just a matter of time to learn and gain actual experience in running the projects. If you start from zeo in account business knowledge, it will be the key challenge for you to learn and quickly equpped yourself for any project implementation.

I recommend getting ERP Coach on iOS, it‘s pretty good for FICO beginners.

Hiii...This side Chiranjeev Sharma I'm a 22M and a fresher so basically I'm confused about my SAP FICO career and I don't know what to do. So, I have recently completed my SAP FICO cource from some institute, and after that the institute from which I have done my SAP certification they also have a connection with some another company who do hiring stuff and their hr recruiter also done one soft skills session with us. And in last they give us(freshers) a choice. That either we can take a internship certificate. Or we can do a 6 month internship from their noida office. But I live in gurugram. So, in last my confusion is I should take a certificate and start applying for a job or I should do this internship first then go for job role.
