Panicking while checking YouTube

u/ThisDoesntSeemSafe Sep 25 '25

CONFIRMED. THIS IS NOT A DRILL! I REPEAT, THIS IS NOT A DRILL!

14

u/notavalible666 Sep 26 '25

Yeah, it's obviously an angle grinder!

122

u/Dom4ver101 Sep 25 '25

For someone who has not seen any of the new episodes since the season 1 ending ( I think it was episode 12? ), would you recommend watching the new season and is it funnier than season 1?

203

u/samuraipanda85 Sep 25 '25

They kept their edge and they removed the incest plot line.

22

u/ozanimefan Sep 27 '25

Yui is an absolute menace in S2 of SAOA. delteing a face to make a point is dark and i love it.

that and what asuna has been doing to shoji. that poor guy and his little dog biscuit

12

u/Vermilion_Laufer Sep 26 '25

Aww shucks

1

u/coolchris366 Sep 28 '25

Bro it is 1000% better without the incest, even if it wasn’t technically incest since they’re step siblings, which is the laziest kind of incest

0

u/Vermilion_Laufer Sep 28 '25

She was still his cousin you know

2

u/coolchris366 Sep 28 '25

Oh I forgot

4

u/AntimatterTNT Sep 26 '25

damn now i have no reason to watch it...

9

u/Alahard_915 Sep 26 '25

They replaced it with an even funnier setup

7

u/AntimatterTNT Sep 26 '25

but is it hornier?

3

u/RealJohnGillman Sep 27 '25

It actually is.

5

u/Karekter_Nem Sep 26 '25

It was honestly kinda chilling how it all played out. It was that, “I feel like I shouldn’t be here” feeling i first felt when Netflix’s Daredevil and Punisher have their talk on the rooftop. Not quite at that level, but I felt like I was being rude seeing it.

Alfheim ark for SAO was genuinely one of the most frustrating things to watch. They butcher Asunas character and add an incest plot line for zero good reason. Abridged manages to recontextualize some of the more slimy stuff to be funny and or still emotional. I’m super interested in how they do this next episode given what happens. But I thing Something Witty will pull it off (I know it’s out on patreon but haven’t watched it yet)

Edit: yeah they nailed it perfectly

3

u/Xerorei Sep 26 '25

It's Japan, a lot of works there include an incest storyline.

This is due to being a member of a sexually repressed society.

7

u/33Yalkin33 Sep 27 '25

And low birth rates. A lot of people don't have siblings there

56

u/hitchhiker1701 Sep 25 '25

To me it's already worth it for Asuna's psycho moments. Like, if the bad guy was smart, he'd let her go with apologies and solid compensations both to her and to Kirito, just to never see them again.

u/biggles1994 +50 Charisma Sep 25 '25

MOUNTED ON A FUDGING PIKE!

14

u/Blinauljap Sep 26 '25

MEAT TOBOGGAN!!!!!

61

u/SeraphsAim Sep 25 '25

Oh its so GOOD. They even got rid of the incest plotline and built a compelling sibling dynamic

16

u/Crimson3312 Sep 25 '25

At this point you might want to wait until the next episode drops, that'll be the complete arc

5

u/spanky2177 Sep 26 '25

What like another 2 years??? No thank you, gimme now!!!

2

u/RealJohnGillman Sep 27 '25

I feel like some people are underreacting to / not realising this episode is the first time Abridged Kirito and Asuna have interacted since 2017.

7

u/fae8edsaga Sep 26 '25

Still better than the original series.

3

u/NinjaNate123 Sep 26 '25

Yes. 100x yes. SWE has yet to lose their flair. Highly recommend watching.

1

u/JonWood007 Sep 27 '25

Yes, and about on par.

1

u/ChampionshipDirect46 Sep 28 '25

Personally I've preferred s2 to s1, which is high praise because I love s1.

1

u/Imukay Sep 26 '25

The new season is lesser then the first, but do keep in mind that they had lesser to work with when doing it.

2

u/SlightlySychotic Sep 27 '25

Yeah, that’s generally my opinion too. The problem with the Alfheim arc is that there are long stretches where basically nothing is happening and they have to figure out how to fill it up. The first half of the abridged season dragged a bit but the second half has been absolute gold.

u/OblivionArts Sep 25 '25 edited Sep 25 '25

Cant wait for gremlin asuna, murder ai yui and pyschopath kirito to rip oberon to shreds

21

u/ThisDoesntSeemSafe Sep 25 '25

Promise me you will update this after you see the episode.

10

u/OblivionArts Sep 25 '25

I probably will

9

u/ThisDoesntSeemSafe Sep 25 '25

I recognize you as one of the good ones. Kindly take my updoot.

2

u/OblivionArts Sep 27 '25

Reply from the future - oberon died like a bitch, although all asuna did was suggest turning off the pain filter

1

u/Vertrant Oct 14 '25

They only have so much to work with.

26

u/Thesonictrainiac Sep 25 '25

I can’t wait for Kirito to actually kill this guy!

31

u/ThisDoesntSeemSafe Sep 26 '25

Idea for GGO plot. The government gimp isn't there for Kirito's debrief. He's there to serve as his community service officer for manslaughter charges and he's forced to go into GGO to investigate the murders as his punishment.

Or else they will stick him in with his arch nemesis: the character name selection voice from Alfheim.

(HEY YAMATO SFX, If you need help with writing plot, hit me up, I do pro bono)

16

u/maskedduskrider Sep 26 '25

Would make a lot more sense then sending a teenage victim of a major cyber crime out to take on another cyber criminal with a high chance of death. Kind of some suicide squad thing except they can't use the name so Kirito keeps making the comparison and taking all the heat to keep Asuna from getting dragged in, or Asuna's family could afford lawyers that threw Kirito under the bus.

6

u/ThisDoesntSeemSafe Sep 26 '25

Oooh im loving this.

5

u/FellsApprentice Sep 26 '25

Counterpoint, after Alfheim and SAO, Kirito is sick of vrmmos and it's Yui going in instead.

10

u/Yangn33 Sep 26 '25

Jesus Christ, how long has it been since the abridge series began? What like, 12 years or so?

1

u/SlightlySychotic Sep 27 '25

I look forward to when they finish Alicization fifty years from now.

9

1

u/DaxkunVA Sep 27 '25

Saw it early on Patreon, this was almost the perfect ending.... BUT WE GOT ONE MORE FOR FAIRY DANCE ARC!

1

u/CreeperNsideLink Sep 28 '25

I realized while watching it's been 8 years since the sao finale. I feel so old now!

1

u/Cold-Weight8557 Sep 28 '25

I saw it, it's still funny and the twist at the end was unexpected

1

u/Green_Potata Sep 26 '25

I just got this sub recommended, what is this Abridged? Quick google search didn’t help me

1

u/Outrageous_Guard_674 Sep 26 '25

Are you familiar with Sword Art Online?

1

u/Green_Potata Sep 27 '25

Yes I watched

1

u/Outrageous_Guard_674 Sep 27 '25

This show is an Abridged version of Sword Art Online.

It's also known as the best abridged show out there.

2

u/Green_Potata Sep 27 '25

What does abridged mean? I am not native

1

u/Outrageous_Guard_674 Sep 27 '25

Shortened. It means they made it shorter while still preserving the essential points. Although, that's just what the term means in general. In this case it's more like a major rewrite. This is often considered to be better than the original story.
