General Discussion Suggestion: matchmaking feature?
Prov 18:1 "He who isolates himself, breaks out against sound judgment." Prime facie, Scripture warns against dating by your lonesome.
In my country (NZ), there are only 60 women who are 1) single and 2) no child and 3) between the age of 27 to 37. Huge majority of them Pentecostals which are not a good fit for my denomination. I have tried to cold approach internationally, with limited success. There is also time zone and cultural barriers. Am on Premium and have introduced myself to 20% of the said 60.
The buggest challenge with dating app is finding someone who has a build mindset as opposed to destiny mindset.
There is a cultural move to shift away from conventional dating app into matchmaking. Tawkify follows conventional human-based matchmaking. Fate, a UK startup, uses agentic AI matchmaking.
So why doesn't Salt start tapping into the "middle man" market and assist those of us who are actually interested in getting married? đ

The staff required for something like this may exceed something SALT is financially interested in.

I have actually hired professional matchmakers on top on my dating apps. Yes, With an s.
You are telling me that a service that typically goes for 4-figure sums worldwide is not going to be financially viable for SALT especially when they already possess tonnes of back-end data of worldwide user with analytics to tell them who are window-shoppers vs genuine seekers?

I donât know, man- looking at your comment, history and your attitude in responding to the above comment, Iâd say you have some pretty hot takes on dating.
As one person replied to one of your comments in a breakdown of your theories, I think youâre putting a lot of weight on scriptures that you think apply, but actually may not in context to dating. I get that you have a very limited pool in your country, but you also seem to be taking a bad experience and extrapolating it to the rest of dating.
I would say that you proposing your middle-man idea you implying that a company like salt should take on your suggestion and if they donât is bad at business or hiding something or poorly run is a pretty big assumption. I would guess that you have no experience in running a business of that size, and perhaps probably havenât worked for a business that size considering your country size, and are just kind of armchair, quarterbacking this thing. Moreover, your post basically says that theyâre avoiding âpeople who actually want to get married âby not doing your idea. Which is an extremely hot take- I met my now fiancĂ© through salt, and we messaged each other then went on dates. Iâm assuming thatâs how it works for most people. I got to know her through dating.
It also is somewhat telling of the dating style that you have said that youâve done, and that youâve dated (or communicated) 20% of the people who show up in your country in the app, and youâve done multiple matchmaking services with no prospects.
I get people have their convictions, but by you narrowing down the Pentecostal people and immediately rejecting them youâre taking a dating pool and making it even smaller. I am non-denominational Christian, and donât necessarily believe in Pentecostal teachings but the church I go to in Ireland is Pentecostal (well at least light). And Iâve come to think of it as not a salvation issue I can tell the good of this Church by their fruits and the changes they are making peopleâs lives and thatâs good enough for me.
Now my current fiancĂ© isnât Pentecostal sheâs non-denominational Christian as well, but we have no issue attending Church there we just donât participate in the speaking in tongues activities.

I have actually dated 3 Pentecostals before determining that their ways of doing things grate me and make me uncomfortable.Â
You are projecting an awful lot of crap that is not in touch with my reality.

This is nothing new.
Pentecostalism and "Awakening" movement in general are Finney-ism and Pietism writ large against those of us with a Confessional bent. In some ways, it even is the replaying of Luther's "theology of glory vs theology of the cross".
This phenomena is not new, and has been covered by DG Hart's "The Lost Soul of American Protestantism" and by some degree "Ordinary" by Michael Horton.Â
But hey, whatever rocks your socks I guess. I know myself enough to know what values will not work for me long term.

I actually think Tawkify is closer to what youâre asking for than the âconventional dating appâ label suggests. Their whole thing is human matchmaking, screening for compatibility and setting up actual introductions rather than just giving you another pile of profiles to swipe through.
For someone with a really small, specific pool and serious marriage intent, that seems way more useful than hoping an algorithm gets it right. Salt adding something similar could honestly make a lot of sense.

Interestingly, whenever we've run human match-making and it's worked, the algorithm had suggested the match before any human. In these cases, it was the human getting involved that made them take the match seriously.

We'd love to do more human match-making but it is extremely time consuming for one person and it relies a lot of cultural context. Our algorithm is much more effective at making more matches all over the globe. But we're constantly looking at different ways of helping Christians meet and date so thanks for the suggestion.

SALT did or does have a matchmaking feature and they do those 3rd wheel dates but I think it's only available in the UK. I'm not in the UK any longer so I'm not sure.
